What unique switching architecture and housing materials distinguish the Pelican 7060?

Answer:
Co-developed with the City of Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the Pelican 7060 features dual-switch technology with independent body-mounted patrol and tail-mounted tactical switches. The housing is molded from chemical- and impact-resistant black Xenoy resin, fitted with a polycarbonate lens and an EPDM O-ring seal.

Originally engineered through a specialized public-private partnership between Pelican Products and the City of Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) for standard patrol issue, the Pelican 7060 incorporates a proprietary dual-switch interface. This architecture provides an ergonomic body-mounted patrol switch alongside a tactical tail-cap switch. Both switches support momentary activation and programmable access to High, Strobe, Medium, and Low light modes, allowing the officer or security operative to retain light activation control across multiple operational handgrips.

The structural build relies on premium industrial polymers designed for severe duty:

  • Body and Shroud: Injection-molded from Xenoy resin in black, delivering superior resistance to impact, mechanical shear, and industrial chemicals.
  • Lens: Optical-grade Polycarbonate (PC) engineered to withstand direct mechanical impacts and thermal stress.
  • Sealing: High-integrity EPDM rubber O-ring ensuring water splash protection certified to IPX4 standards.
