Industrial, Defense, and Tactical Security Use Cases

Law Enforcement Patrol and Tactical Interventions

Engineered through a direct public-private collaboration between Pelican Products and the City of Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the Pelican 7060 LED Tactical Flashlight serves as standard-issue lighting for frontline patrol officers and tactical response units. During rapid clearing maneuvers and defensive operations, the dual-switch architecture allows operators to manipulate lighting controls irrespective of grip orientation. When using an overhand tactical hold alongside sidearms, personnel can activate the tail-mounted tactical switch for momentary illumination or constant beam engagement. During standard foot patrol duties, the body-mounted 3-way patrol switch provides an ergonomic underhand activation point.

The High output mode delivers 402 lumens with a peak beam intensity of 11,078 candela and a beam distance of 210 meters, enabling officers to identify potential threats, illuminate deep alleys, and inspect vehicle interiors from safe standoff distances. The integrated strobe mode provides high-intensity flashing for signaling and defensive disorientation, while the momentary function allows brief situational illumination without telegraphing position.

Perimeter Surveillance in Defense Sectors and High-Security Installations

For perimeter monitoring across defense sites, military checkpoints, and secure government installations, physical security personnel require adaptable illumination that balances long-distance reach with extended shift runtimes. The Pelican 7060 complies with ANSI/NEMA FL1 standards across three dedicated illumination levels:

  • High Mode (402 Lumens, 11,078 cd, 210 m beam): Provides 3 hours and 30 minutes of runtime for scanning outer security perimeters, boundary fences, and access points.
  • Medium Mode (162 Lumens, 4,312 cd, 131 m beam): Delivers 12 hours of runtime, covering a full work shift on a single charge for continuous perimeter surveillance and warehouse rounds.
  • Low Mode (18 Lumens, 500 cd, 45 m beam): Delivers an extended 57-hour runtime for close-up documentation checks, gate operations, and indoor facility navigation during reduced-lighting protocols.

Industrial Facility Security and Banking Installations

Critical commercial infrastructure, including banking installations, cash transit checkpoints, and industrial plants, presents harsh operating conditions. Built with a black Xenoy resin body, Xenoy shroud, and a Polycarbonate (PC) lens, the Pelican 7060 withstands impacts, abrasive contact, and rough handling. An EPDM rubber O-ring ensures an environmental seal rated to IPX4 splash resistance, protecting internal components during rain and wet outdoor duty.

Officers on active security patrols can integrate the light into standard duty gear using the Pelican 7077 plain leather holster or 7078 nylon holster. Measuring 8.65 inches (22 cm) in length and weighing 10.4 oz (295 g) with batteries (they are not included) and 8.2 oz (232 g) without batteries (they are not included), the unit remains balanced on duty belts during long shifts.

Mobile Security Fleets and In-Vehicle Charging Stations

Mobile security patrol fleets operating across industrial parks and transportation hubs require continuous charging capability inside response vehicles. The Pelican 7060 connects to the Pelican 7070 desk/dash charger base unit, which secures to console panels or flat cabin surfaces using two mounting holes designed for #10 screws. For vehicle installations, the charger connects via the 6061F direct wiring rig to an ignition-switched line or through the 8056F 12V plug-in adapter, preventing standby power drain on vehicle batteries (they are not included).

The system operates on a 3.7V 18650 Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery (they are not included) that reaches a complete replenishment cycle in a 5-hour charge time. Security operations centers can also deploy dedicated Pelican 7069 replacement battery (they are not included) units to support non-stop, multi-shift team handovers.
