Pelican 7060 Maintenance & Preventative Care Protocol

EPDM O-Ring Inspection and Housing Seal Care

The Pelican 7060 LED tactical flashlight relies on an internal EPDM rubber O-ring to seal the housing against particulate and water ingress, preserving its certified IPX4 environmental splash-resistance rating. Preventative maintenance protocols require periodic inspection of the EPDM O-ring for physical cuts, wear, particulate accumulation, and flattening. Whenever the Xenoy resin housing is unthreaded, clean the sealing surfaces with a dry, lint-free cloth.

To maintain proper seal integrity and prevent mechanical binding of the Xenoy resin threads, lubricate the threads, the O-ring groove, and the inside lip of the Polycarbonate (PC) lens with a uniform, thin film of silicone grease. Never apply petroleum-based lubricants or aggressive solvent chemicals to the assembly, as hydrocarbon compounds degrade EPDM rubber and weaken thermoplastic polymers.

Lithium-Ion Cell Handling and Charger Contact Maintenance

The unit is powered by a dedicated 3.7 V 18650 rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery (they are not included) or the Pelican 7069 replacement battery (they are not included) pack. To protect the electrochemical stability of the power source, avoid deep discharging of the Lithium-Ion battery (they are not included). Excessive depletion below operational thresholds can result in cell breakdown and cause the battery (they are not included) to vent hazardous electrolytes and volatile gases.

Establish a duty recharging schedule using the Pelican 7070 Desk/Dash Charger Base Unit. A depleted pack requires an uninterrupted 5-hour charging cycle. Regularly wipe the external metal charging terminals on the 8.65-inch (22 cm) black Xenoy flashlight body and inside the charger cradle using a clean, dry cotton swab to eliminate oil films, road dust, or oxidation that could degrade charging efficiency.

Optical Cleaning and Switch Integrity

The optical system utilizes a precision Polycarbonate (PC) lens shielded by a Xenoy resin shroud. Dirt, film deposits, and tactical field residues will reduce beam output below the rated 402 lumens on High (11,078 candela), 162 lumens on Medium (4,312 candela), and 18 lumens on Low (500 candela). Clean the Polycarbonate (PC) lens with clean water and a mild detergent using a soft microfiber cloth; avoid dry wiping or harsh abrasive compounds to prevent optical scratching.

Examine both the body-mounted patrol switch and the tail-mounted tactical switch during shift turn-overs. Confirm that both switch boots are free from compacted sand, grime, or mechanical obstructions, ensuring uninhibited activation through momentary, High, Strobe, Medium, and Low operational modes.

Vehicle Charging Hardware and Mount Inspection

When fleet installations utilize the Pelican 7070 Desk/Dash Charger Base Unit connected to either the 8056F 12V Plug-in Fast Charger Cord or the 6061F Direct Wiring Rig, verify that all mechanical mounting hardware remains secure. The charger base must be firmly affixed using two #10 screws. Never mount the charger base upside-down, as mechanical vibrations and vehicle movement can dislodge the 10.4 oz (295 g) flashlight from its cradle.

Electrical connections running through the 6061F direct wiring rig must be verified periodically to ensure the circuit connects strictly to an ignition key-switched line. Direct connection to a permanent, unswitched 12V feed will produce an ongoing standby draw capable of completely draining the host vehicle's battery (they are not included).
