Mounting Architecture and Base Unit Overview
The Pelican 7060 LED Tactical Flashlight relies on the Pelican 7070 Desk/Dash Charger Base Unit for secure station docking, fleet vehicle integration, and battery recharging. Engineered for tactical patrol environments and high-security installations, the mounting assembly accommodates fixed desktop deployment, vertical wall or bulkhead mounting, and vehicle console integration. Safe and continuous electrical performance depends strictly on correct physical orientation, proper mechanical fastening, and deliberate electrical circuit routing.
Mechanical Fastening and Orientation Guidelines
The Pelican 7070 charger base is engineered with two pre-drilled mounting holes configured to accept standard #10 screws. Installers must secure the charger base to a flat, rigid substrate capable of supporting repetitive docking and un-docking cycles without flex or deformation. Prior to mechanically anchoring the charger base to the substrate, the right-angle electrical power plug must be fully inserted into the rear receptacle of the unit. Attempting to attach the charger base to a surface before inserting the right-angle plug will block connector clearance and can damage the power lead or housing.
Mounting orientation requires strict adherence to safety specifications. The charger base must never be installed upside-down. Inverted mounting introduces severe drop hazards during vehicle transit, high-vibration operation, or emergency maneuvers, which may cause the 8.65-inch (22 cm), 10.4 oz (295 g) Xenoy resin flashlight body to dislodge or eject from the docking cradle. Approved configurations include horizontal tabletop placement, horizontal console mounting, or upright vertical bulkhead mounting where retaining clips maintain positive mechanical engagement.
Vehicle Electrical Wiring and Direct Circuit Connection
When hardwiring the charging dock into patrol cars, perimeter response utility vehicles, or mobile command units, installation requires the Pelican 6061F Direct Wiring Rig for Fast Charger. Installers must connect the direct wiring leads strictly to an ignition key-switched power line rather than an unswitched, constant 12V battery line. Due to the high amperage draw of the fast-charging circuit, connecting the 6061F wiring rig directly to an unswitched battery circuit can drain the vehicle host battery during stationary or off-duty periods.
For modular or temporary vehicle setups, the Pelican 8056F 12V plug-in fast charger cord can be utilized via standard auxiliary 12V vehicle power sockets. For facility desktop or security checkpoint consoles, the included multi-regional power supply should be used with an appropriate regional AC outlet.
Commissioning and Charging Verification
Once the Pelican 7070 dock is mounted and wired, verify mechanical fit by seating the Pelican 7060 flashlight into the cradle. The unit utilizes a single 3.7V 18650 Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery; when replacement battery cells required (they are not included) are handled, ensure correct terminal orientation before final housing closure. A standard full charging cycle requires 5 hours. Ensure that the EPDM O-ring seal remains cleanly seated to maintain the flashlight's IPX4 water-splash resistance during routine field removal.
