Physical Dimensions and Spatial Positioning
The eSSL AiFace-Mars terminal features a vertical form factor measuring 91.93 mm in width, 202.93 mm in height, and 21.5 mm in depth. When mounting the terminal at access points, installers must position the unit to optimize the field of view for its 2MP WDR low-light camera and adjustable brightness LED array. The visible light optical recognition engine supports proactive subject identification at operational distances up to 2 meters, accommodating a wide facial pose tolerance of +/- 30 degrees. Mounting surfaces must be flush to ensure the rear-integrated tamper switch alarm is fully depressed against the mounting plane; physical unseating or unauthorized dismounting will instantly trip the internal tamper switch and activate the alarm output interface.
Electrical Power Requirements
Reliable operation of the terminal's dual-core 900MHz processor, 5.0-inch touchscreen, and biometric recognition hardware requires a stable, direct-current power infrastructure:
- Supply Voltage: 12V DC regulated
- Current Rating: 3.0 Amperes (3A)
- Operating Temperature Envelope: -10 °C to 45 °C
- Operating Humidity Range: 10% to 90% non-condensing
Power cable runs should be sized appropriately to prevent voltage drops below 12V DC at the terminal input terminals under peak illumination loads.
Access Control Peripheral Interfaces
The backplane of the AiFace-Mars terminal is equipped with dedicated hardwired terminal blocks designed to interconnect with standard door security hardware:
- 3rd-Party Electric Lock Output: Integrates relay controls for electric strikes, magnetic locks, or electromechanical drop bolts.
- Door Sensor Input: Connects to dry-contact door position switches for real-time monitoring of open/closed door states and forced-door alerts.
- Exit Request Button: Accommodates normally-open (NO) push-to-exit devices for interior egress release.
- Auxiliary Alarm Output: Provides dedicated signaling to external sounders, strobes, or security panels upon anti-tamper or forced-entry activation.
Data Communications and Network Topology
System integrators can establish connectivity to local local-area networks or centralized enterprise servers through multiple onboard data buses. Primary corporate networking is achieved via the onboard TCP/IP Ethernet interface, with optional factory Wi-Fi available for wireless installations. For peripheral card reader integration or master/slave controller links, the terminal features both Wiegand Input and Wiegand Output ports alongside an industrial RS485 communication bus.
System Commissioning and Software Setup
Once power and network cabling are validated, administrators configure access rules and enroll users directly via the 5.0-inch touchscreen or push network data via ADMS (Automatic Data Master Server) protocol into eSSL eTimeTracklite management software. Field testing must verify that the Face VX5.8 algorithm achieves standard verification speeds of 1 second or less across the device's 3,000 face template capacity. Commissioning personnel should configure access levels, user groups, holiday schedules, daylight saving time (DST), and anti-passback rules to complete the access control deployment.
