Power Supply and System Boot Diagnosis
The eSSL AiFace-Mars operates on a dedicated 12V DC, 3A power requirement. Unexpected system reboots, continuous boot loops, or touch screen unresponsiveness on the 5.0-inch display often indicate voltage drops or insufficient amperage delivery across cabling runs. Ensure the connected DC power source supplies a stable 12V under operational loads when third-party electric locks or integrated alarm relays engage. Verify all DC power lead polarities and ensure the wire gauge is appropriately sized to mitigate resistance over extended installation distances.
Facial Verification and Optical Sensor Failures
The terminal leverages the Face VX5.8 algorithm alongside a 2MP WDR low-light camera with integrated adjustable brightness LED illumination. When users experience rejected verifications or recognition times exceeding ≤ 1 second, diagnose the physical capture parameters:
- Distance and Pose Angle: Confirm that the user approaches within the effective recognition distance of up to 2 meters and stays within the +/- 30-degree wide-angle pose tolerance.
- Illumination Calibration: In environments with severe backlighting or extremely dark ambient conditions, calibrate the adjustable brightness LED array to allow the 2MP WDR low-light camera to properly register facial landmarks.
- Anti-Spoofing Triggers: The internal anti-spoofing algorithm actively rejects printed photographs (laser, color, or black-and-white), digital video playback, and 3D mask simulations. High-resolution glare, tinted eyewear, or facial obstructions may occasionally trigger spoof mitigation; verify user credentials via secondary 9-digit User ID input, password, or RFID card.
- Template Capacity: Ensure the local database has not exceeded the 3,000 face template capacity. Audit the local template count through the Linux system menu.
Communication and eTimeTracklite / ADMS Connectivity
If transaction records fail to synchronize to management software or real-time attendance polling drops, verify physical and network layers:
- TCP/IP Ethernet: Check RJ45 link lights, verify gateway parameters, and verify there are no local IP address conflicts on the subnet. Confirm that the terminal's configured ADMS server IP and communication port align exactly with the central host configuration.
- Optional Wi-Fi Configuration: For units equipped with the optional Wi-Fi module, inspect wireless signal strength at the mounting point. Signal degradation can interrupt real-time event streaming to eTimeTracklite.
- RS485 and Wiegand Integration: For peripheral controllers or secondary readers, verify correct polarity on RS485 data lines (A/B) and Wiegand Input/Output wiring (Data 0, Data 1, GND) to avoid transmission framing faults.
- Log Memory Capacity: The onboard storage accommodates up to 150,000 transaction logs. If network connectivity has been offline for an extended duration, perform a manual record query or initiate an ADMS sync push via eTimeTracklite once link status is restored.
Access Control Relay, Anti-Passback, and Tamper Alarm Issues
When verified users fail to actuate door hardware, verify access control logic and relay loop wiring:
- Access Rules: Ensure the user is mapped to active access levels, functional groups, and valid holiday schedules. Verify whether daylight saving time (DST) adjustments have shifted expected time zones.
- Anti-Passback Locks: If anti-passback rules are activated on the terminal, users attempting consecutive entries without a matching exit event will be denied access until an authorized reset occurs.
- Relay Interfaces: Inspect hardwired dry contacts feeding 3rd-party electric locks, door sensors, and exit buttons. Ensure lock power is isolated from the 12V 3A logic supply if drawing high inductive strike current.
- Tamper Switch Alarm: The AiFace-Mars features an integrated physical tamper switch. If the terminal triggers an audible or wired alarm output persistently, ensure the unit is flush-mounted and firmly seated against its mounting plate to keep the switch contact depressed.
RFID Card Read Failures
The terminal features standard 125KHz EM ID card support, with factory configurations supporting optional 13.56MHz Mifare IC cards. Ensure presented credentials match the installed hardware frequency module and that total card enrollments remain within the 3,000 card capacity threshold.
