Biomax Access10 Hardware Mounting, Wiring, and Commissioning Guide

Mechanical Mounting and Dimensions

The Biomax Access10 (N-Access10) standalone access controller is engineered in a compact 86 mm (width) x 86 mm (height) x 26 mm (depth) square architectural profile, weighing 0.43 kg. Designed for flush or surface mounting directly over standard single-gang electrical switch boxes or flat masonry, its compact profile allows installation in tight structural reveals and narrow door mullion zones.

Mount the unit at an ergonomic height of approximately 1.4 m to 1.5 m from the finished floor to provide optimal alignment with the optical biometric prism, keypad, and monochrome black-and-white LCD display. The hardware operates within an ambient temperature envelope of 0°C to 50°C.

Power Supply Specifications

The terminal requires a stable external regulated power supply rated at 12V DC and a minimum continuous output of 1.5 Amps. To ensure uncompromised optical sensor operation, reliable 125 kHz RFID reading, and positive relay switching, power cabling should be routed using appropriately sized shielded conductors (minimum 18 AWG to 22 AWG depending on distance) to avoid voltage drops across long wiring paths.

Lock Relay and Peripheral Connections

The Access10 features an onboard relay designed to control single-door locking hardware. The terminal interfaces with standard commercial locking devices, egress peripherals, and signalling units:

  • Electromechanical Locks: Supports direct switching for 12V DC fail-safe hardware (such as magnetic/EM locks that release on power cut) and fail-secure hardware (such as electric drop bolts or door strikes that release on power application).
  • Request-to-Exit (REX): Dedicated terminal inputs accept dry-contact signals from an interior exit push button, permitting occupant egress without logging or alarm generation.
  • Integrated Doorbell Circuitry: Dedicated bell contacts interface directly with an external chime or alert buzzer, which activates whenever visitors press the front-panel Bell icon button.

Engineering Setup and Onboard Commissioning

Because the Biomax Access10 functions as an offline standalone terminal without external networking or management software, all programming is executed directly through the keypad and black-and-white LCD:

1. Accessing Setup: Press and hold the Bell button for 3 seconds. When prompted on screen, input the 6-digit master administrator code (factory default: 888888). The Bell button functions as 'Confirm / OK', while the asterisk (*) button functions as 'Back / Cancel / ESC'.

2. Door Lock Opening Delay: Navigate to Menu option 3 (Opening Delay). Specify the strike hold-open time between 1 and 255 seconds, then confirm with the Bell button to accommodate specific door closer and latching hardware requirements.

3. Authentication Pass Modes: In Menu option 5 (Pass Mode), select the operational credential requirement: Mode 1 (Fingerprint, Card, or Code), Mode 2 (Fingerprint + Card dual verification), or Mode 3 (Fingerprint + Code dual verification).

4. User Enrollment: Enrolling users (supporting up to 500 fingerprints and 500 RFID cards) requires assigning a mandatory 5-digit numeric user ID. During fingerprint enrollment, the user must press their finger onto the optical scanner 2 consecutive times to generate a verified biometric template. If common PIN access is required, the unit allows configuration of up to 2 distinct common passwords.
