The Ahuja SUH-15MT is engineered specifically for direct integration into commercial, industrial, and institutional distributed sound systems. Operating with an internal 100V line matching transformer, the unit connects seamlessly to standard 100V constant-voltage public address (PA) power amplifiers, zone controllers, and industrial voice alarm systems.
100V Constant-Voltage Distributed Line Compatibility
In large industrial facilities, manufacturing yards, warehouses, and perimeter fencing, long loudspeaker cable runs often introduce significant line loss. The 100V constant-voltage topology built into the SUH-15MT circumvents I²R power loss by distributing audio at a high-voltage, low-current level. Multiple SUH-15MT horn units can be wired in parallel across a single two-conductor speaker circuit back to a master 100V PA amplifier output.
Power Tap Selection and Impedance Matching
The integrated multi-tap transformer features a rear-mounted rotary switch assembly, allowing field technicians and system integrators to configure individual speaker output wattage and line impedance without opening the sealed driver housing. The load presented to the 100V amplifier line is determined by the selected power tap:
- 15W Tap: Presents a nominal impedance of 670Ω for maximum acoustic output (118 dB SPL at 15W/1m).
- 10W Tap: Presents a nominal impedance of 1kΩ (1,000Ω) for balanced medium-range paging.
- 5W Tap: Presents a nominal impedance of 2kΩ (2,000Ω) for background announcements and lower-ambient noise zones.
- 2.5W Tap: Presents a nominal impedance of 4kΩ (4,000Ω) for secondary corridors or low-volume localized monitoring.
Amplifier Sizing and Multi-Speaker Budgeting
When calculating total amplifier load capacity on a 100V distribution line, the sum of all individual SUH-15MT rotary tap settings must not exceed the continuous RMS power rating of the driving amplifier. For instance, a 150W RMS commercial 100V amplifier can comfortably power up to ten SUH-15MT units tapped at 15W, fifteen units tapped at 10W, or thirty units tapped at 5W.
Electrical Connection and Physical Interface
Each SUH-15MT unit comes factory-fitted with an integrated 0.6 m (2-foot) 2-core sheathed speaker cable passed through a water-tight, tug-proof cable gland to maintain enclosure integrity. This factory lead easily splices into external industrial junction boxes or terminal strips.
Physical mounting is facilitated by a heavy-duty metal bracket capable of 270-degree rotation. This mounting interface allows direct fastening to structural I-beams, flat concrete walls, steel poles, vehicles, or work vessels to achieve directional coverage across 253 x 152 x 293 mm horn dimensions.
Signaling, Voice, and Environmental Compliance
With an acoustic bandwidth of 275 Hz to 7,000 Hz, the SUH-15MT is compatible with voice paging microphones, tone generators, evacuation chime modules, and pre-recorded industrial message players. The horn assembly meets EN 60065 Low Voltage Directive standards and provides IP66 ingress protection against high-pressure water jets and particulates, ensuring compatibility in indoor and harsh outdoor operating environments.
