Installation and Mounting Guide for Ahuja SUH-15MT Horn Speaker

Mechanical Mounting and Alignment

The Ahuja SUH-15MT PA horn speaker is designed for stable physical deployment in industrial plants, outdoor perimeters, commercial facilities, work vessels, and mobile vehicle installations. The unit features an integrated heavy-duty metal mounting bracket engineered to support the speaker's net weight of 1.91 kg. The bracket assembly supports a full 270-degree rotation angle, allowing installers to position the 253 mm x 152 mm x 293 mm UV-protected ABS plastic flare accurately toward designated coverage zones.

When fastening the bracket to structural surfaces—such as masonry walls, steel columns, mobile vehicle roofs, or marine vessel bulkheads—use appropriate heavy-duty fasteners matched to the mounting substrate. Ensure the bracket hardware is securely torqued after final directional alignment to maintain acoustic coverage and prevent movement under mechanical vibration or wind load.

Electrical Wiring and Cable Management

Electrical integration is streamlined via the factory-fitted 0.6 m (2-foot) 2-core sheathed speaker cable. The cable passes into the rear enclosure through a water-tight, tug-proof cable gland designed to prevent strain on internal terminations and maintain environmental sealing.

For permanent field terminations, route the 2-core sheathed cable directly into an external IP-rated weather-proof junction box. Connect the speaker lines to the 100V distributed audio run observing consistent polarity across all installed units to avoid phase cancellation across adjacent speaker zones.

Rear Rotary Switch Power Tap Selection

The Ahuja SUH-15MT incorporates an internal 100V line matching transformer that facilitates long cable runs across distributed speaker networks while eliminating line transmission loss. Power wattage taps and line impedance are selected via the multi-position rotary switch located at the rear of the sealed transformer housing.

Switch Setting (Power Tap)Nominal Impedance (100V Line)Acoustic Output (SPL at 1 kHz)
15W (RMS Rated)670 Ω118 dB at 15W / 1m
10W1 kΩContinuous paging profile
5W2 kΩContinuous paging profile
2.5W4 kΩContinuous paging profile

Set the rotary switch to the required wattage before powering the system. Calculate the cumulative wattage of all horn speakers on the 100V line to verify that the total connected load does not exceed the continuous power rating of the driving public address amplifier.

Environmental and Compliance Guidelines

The SUH-15MT provides an IP66 ingress protection rating, safeguarding internal components, the aluminium voice coil bobbin, and transformer circuitry against airborne dust, industrial particulate matter, and high-pressure water jets. To preserve IP66 compliance and structural integrity:

  • Ensure the rear rotary switch cover and enclosure seal remain tightly seated after power selection.
  • Verify that the tug-proof cable gland remains firmly tightened around the 2-core sheath.
  • Angle the horn flare slightly downward to facilitate natural moisture drainage in open outdoor installations.
  • Confirm installations comply with the European Union Low Voltage Directive standard EN 60065.
