The Notifier NBG-12LX dual-action addressable manual pull station is engineered for indoor installation in dry commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities. The unit features a durable red polycarbonate textured shell and must be installed in compliance with ADAAG Section 4.1.3[13] guidelines for controls and operating mechanisms, complying with the 5 lb. maximum activation force threshold.
Backbox Selection and Mounting Configurations
The NBG-12LX supports both semi-flush and surface-mounted backbox configurations to accommodate various architectural and conduit specifications:
- Semi-Flush Installation: The pull station mounts directly to a standard single-gang electrical box without auxiliary trim. When semi-flush mounting to a double-gang electrical box or a 4-inch (10.16 cm) square electrical box, the optional BG12TR trim ring is required to bridge the box opening.
- Surface-Mount Installation: For exposed conduit runs or surface architectural finishes, the unit requires a dedicated surface backbox. Installers can specify the SB-10 surface backbox (metal) or the SB-I/O surface backbox (plastic). The optional NY-Plate trim plate is also available where wide-profile coverage is specified.
Signaling Line Circuit (SLC) Field Wiring
The station connects directly to an intelligent control panel Signaling Line Circuit (SLC) loop via a standard two-wire interface. The terminal block features wire-ready captive screw terminals capable of terminating field wiring up to 12 AWG (3.25 mm²). Before terminating, ensure the loop wiring is de-energized.
The unit operates at a nominal loop voltage of 24 VDC, with a maximum allowable SLC loop voltage of 28.0 VDC. In normal standby mode, the maximum current draw is 375 µA, increasing to a maximum alarm current draw of 5 mA when the pull handle is actuated.
Rotary Address Switch Configuration
Address assignment is executed manually via two integrated rotary decimal switches located on the station assembly. Maintenance personnel can unlock and open the front door using the supplied key to access the switches without causing a panel alarm condition:
- FlashScan Protocol: Set the rotary decimal switches between address 01 and 159 (supporting up to 159 NBG-12LX stations per SLC loop).
- CLIP Protocol: Set the rotary switches between address 01 and 99 (supporting up to 99 NBG-12LX stations per SLC loop).
Note: The NBG-12LX is compatible with Notifier intelligent control panels, but is incompatible with Notifier FireWarden series panels and the NSP-25 panel.
Testing, Resetting, and Operational Verification
Following wiring and address assignment, close the door and test the station by pushing in and pulling down the dual-action handle. When tripped, the handle latches firmly into place, exposing the bright yellow word 'ACTIVATED' at the top while the handle tail protrudes from the bottom of the enclosure.
Operational status is verified through the built-in bicolor LED visible through the handle. In FlashScan mode, the LED blinks green during normal panel polling and latches steady red when an alarm is initiated. To restore normal operation, unlock the key lock and open the door; this unlatches the handle. Closing the door automatically resets the internal alarm switch.
