Notifier Control Panel Compatibility & Exclusions
The NBG-12LX is compatible with any Notifier intelligent fire alarm control panel, including high-capacity systems such as the NFS2-640 and NFS2-3030. It provides fully supervised point addressability, station status polling, and localized alarm reporting.
Crucial system exclusions apply across the Notifier portfolio: the NBG-12LX is explicitly incompatible with Notifier FireWarden series panels (such as the NFW-50, NFW-100, or NFW2-100) and the NSP-25 panel. Installers working on FireWarden or NSP-25 networks must use panel-designated initiation devices rather than the NBG-12LX.
Communication Protocols and Addressing Limits
The manual pull station supports both Notifier communication protocols—FlashScan and CLIP (Classic Loop Interface Protocol). Device addressing is configured physically via two onboard rotary decimal switches, allowing service technicians to set addresses from the front assembly when unlocked without generating a nuisance alarm at the panel:
- FlashScan Protocol: Supports addressing from 1 to 159, allowing a maximum density of up to 159 NBG-12LX stations per SLC loop. On FlashScan loops, the station's built-in bicolor LED blinks green during normal polling cycles and turns solid red upon alarm activation.
- CLIP Protocol: Supports addressing from 1 to 99, allowing up to 99 NBG-12LX stations per SLC loop. The LED latches solid red when the station is triggered into alarm.
SLC Loop Electrical and Wiring Compatibility
The NBG-12LX operates over a two-wire connection wired directly to an SLC loop of the fire alarm control panel. It incorporates captive screw terminals designed for field wiring conductors up to 12 AWG (3.25 mm²). Electrical integration parameters include:

Approved Mounting Backboxes and Trim Accessories

- Standard Electrical Boxes (Semi-Flush): Mounts directly to a standard single-gang electrical box, a double-gang electrical box, or a 4-inch (10.16 cm) square electrical box.
- BG12TR Trim Ring: Required when semi-flush mounting the station to a double-gang or 4-inch (10.16 cm) square box to ensure complete enclosure coverage. The BG12TR is not required for single-gang installations.
- Surface Backboxes: For surface-run conduit or rigid wall installations, the station is compatible with the model SB-10 metal surface backbox and the model SB-I/O plastic surface backbox.
- Specialized Plates & Hardware: Compatible with the NY-Plate (New York City trim plate) and uses the 17021 key set (pair of replacement keys) for station locking, testing, and handle reset.
Environmental Compatibility
The NBG-12LX is rated strictly for dry, indoor applications across an operating temperature range of 32°F to 120°F (0°C to 49°C) and relative humidity between 10% and 93% (noncondensing). It is not rated for outdoor, high-moisture, or classified hazardous locations without additional approved protective enclosures.
