Mechanical Enclosure and Mounting Preparation
The Honeywell Morley-IAS DXc1 (part number 714-001-111) is housed in a compact enclosure measuring 260 mm (H) x 390 mm (W) x 147 mm (D) with a net mechanical weight of 4 kg excluding batteries (they are not included). The structural build combines a mild steel sheet rear back box with an ABS plastic front cover compliant with BS EN60950, finished in RAL 9002 (Grey white) and rated to IP30 (EN6059 / EN 60529). All operator controls, indicators, and the 6 x 40 character (240 x 64 pixels) blue backlit LCD are carried directly on the enclosure door.
Surface mounting is achieved using the 3 integrated wall-mounting screw holes in the back box. For alternative physical installations, the enclosure accommodates optional accessories including a semi-flush mounting bezel kit (part 795-112, measuring 342 mm H x 471.5 mm W x 13 mm D) and a standard 19-inch rack mounting kit (part 795-119). The operating environment must be maintained between 0°C and +40°C with non-condensing relative humidity between 5% and 95%.
Cable Management and Conduit Knockouts
The back box is engineered with pre-formed 20 mm conduit knockouts to facilitate clean, segregated field cable entry:
- Top Cable Entry: 25 x 20 mm conduit knockouts for top-down cable routing.
- Bottom Cable Entry: 2 x 20 mm conduit knockouts for bottom service and incoming cabling.
High-voltage AC mains wiring must enter through dedicated knockouts to maintain separation from extra-low voltage (ELV) signalling circuits, detection loops, and monitored output lines.
Mains Power, PSU, and Battery Sizing
The DXc1 panel integrates an internal switch-mode power supply unit rated at 24V DC 2A. The incoming primary mains supply accepts 110V AC or 230V AC (+/-15% tolerance) at 50/60 Hz. In addition to primary system power, the PSU provides an auxiliary +24V DC 250 mA fused output for driving external ancillary equipment.
Internal standby capacity accommodates 2 x 7Ah stand-by batteries (they are not included) located within the bottom section of the enclosure. This battery arrangement delivers up to 24 hours of standalone backup, or 48 hours of backup when equipped with an optional network card (795-099) or remote repeater, based on standard Apollo protocol loop calculations. Backup batteries (they are not included) connect directly to the onboard charging circuit; any battery depletion or disconnection triggers the dedicated Supply Fault LED on the front interface.
Field Wiring and I/O Circuit Termination
All field connections use plug-in terminal block connectors to simplify wiring, testing, and replacement during initial installation:
- Analogue Addressable Loop: 1 loop circuit supporting a 500 mA loop driver. Field devices can be configured for Apollo (up to 126 devices across Xplorer, XP95, and Discovery), Hochiki ESP, or System Sensor protocol (up to 198 total addresses: 99 sensors plus 99 modules/manual call points/AV units), or System Sensor Agile wireless devices on firmware 1.30+. Only one protocol can be active per panel.
- Supervised Sounder Outputs: 2 independent, monitored sounder circuits rated at 1A per circuit.
- Monitored Inputs: 2 onboard monitored supervisory input circuits.
- Auxiliary Relays: 3 onboard single pole changeover relays rated at 24V DC 1A (Fire relay, Extended relay, and programmable Aux relay).
- Serial Communications: 1 x RS485 port dedicated to Morley Active Repeaters (709-601-001) or Morley Passive Repeaters (709-701-001).
Commissioning and Configuration
Once field wiring is terminated and mains power is established, the panel enables rapid commissioning, achieving a working, compliant fire alarm setup in as few as five button presses via the door controls. Full site programming and zone allocation (up to 160 software zones) can be completed directly through the 12-button alphanumeric keypad and navigation controls, or configured off-site using the supplied Windows PC programming tool connected via the onboard PC programming port (supporting USB upload and download).
