Honeywell Morley-IAS DXc1 Compatibility & System Interoperability

The Honeywell Morley-IAS DXc1 (part number 714-001-111) is an intelligent single-loop analogue addressable fire alarm control panel built with a versatile multi-protocol architecture. Designed to support legacy retrofits as well as greenfield installations, the DXc1 control panel provides native communication drivers for major detector manufacturer protocols without requiring proprietary external protocol translators. Operating on a 500 mA loop current capacity, the panel enables systems integrators to deploy high-density sensor and output loops while ensuring strict compliance with EN54-2 and EN54-4 standards.

Addressable Device Protocol Support

The DXc1 loop driver circuitry is switchable across three leading addressable fire detection protocols. Only one communication protocol may be configured per control panel:

  • System Sensor Protocol: Supports up to 198 total addressable points per loop, divided into up to 99 sensors (optical, thermal, multi-criteria) and up to 99 modules, manual call points (MCPs), and audio-visual (AV) appliances. On panels running DXc firmware version 1.30 and above, the loop architecture fully supports System Sensor Agile wireless devices.
  • Apollo Protocol: Supports up to 126 addressable devices per loop across Apollo Xplorer, XP95, and Discovery series detectors, manual call points, and interfaces.
  • Hochiki Protocol: Supports Hochiki ESP addressable devices, delivering comprehensive point interrogation, status telemetry, and loop management across compatible ESP sensors and modules.

Inter-Panel Peer-to-Peer Networking

To scale beyond a single-loop boundary, the DXc1 panel integrates into a distributed network architecture using the optional DXc Network Card (part number 795-099). This plug-in module enables true peer-to-peer, fault-tolerant networking across up to 16 loops compliant with BS5839 Part 1 specifications. Systems engineers can interconnect up to 16 single-loop DXc1 panels, eight 2-loop DXc2 panels, four 4-loop DXc4 panels, or any hybrid combination that totals up to 16 loops across a facility campus.

Peripheral Hardware & Expansion Modules

The DXc1 motherboard features dedicated onboard hardware ports and internal expansion headers designed for system peripherals:

  • Repeater Terminals: Includes 1 x dedicated RS485 communication port engineered to connect external repeaters, including the Morley Active Repeater (part number 709-601-001) and Morley Passive Repeater (part number 709-701-001).
  • Third-Party Serial Integration: Supports the plug-in RS232 Kit (part number 795-122) for communication with third-party building management systems and external management protocols.
  • Zonal LED Modules: Supports the 40-zone LED card kit (part number 795-102), scaling across configurable options for 40, 80, or 160 zone LED indicators.
  • Mimic Panels: Fully compatible with the DXc Compact Mimic display unit (part number 020-909).
  • Access Control: Accommodates the programmable keyswitch kit (part number 795-118) mounted through the front enclosure.
  • Mounting Hardware: Compatible with the semi-flush bezel kit (part number 795-112, 342 mm H x 471.5 mm W x 13 mm D) and the 19-inch rack mounting kit (part number 795-119).

Conventional Sounders, Relays & Standby Power

Field equipment interfaces on the DXc1 include two independent, supervised sounder output circuits rated at 1A per circuit, supporting conventional polarized notification devices. Auxiliary power for external interfaces is supplied via a 24V DC 250 mA fused terminal. Output control includes three onboard single pole changeover relays rated at 24V DC 1A: a standard Fire relay, an Extended relay, and a programmable Aux relay. Two onboard monitored inputs are available for supervisory signal monitoring.

For primary and backup power integration, the internal 24V DC 2A switch-mode PSU requires a 110V AC or 230V AC (+/-15% tolerance) mains supply at 50/60 Hz. The enclosure accommodates 2 x 7Ah sealed lead-acid standby batteries (they are not included), which provide up to 24 hours of standalone backup or up to 48 hours of emergency standby when configured with a network card or repeater bus.
