Foundation Plate and Civil Retrofit Compatibility
The FAAC B680H barrier upright is engineered for direct mechanical retrocompatibility with existing civil installations utilizing FAAC 620 and FAAC 640 foundation plates. Facility managers and installation contractors can upgrade aging electro-hydraulic barrier posts to the B680H 24V hybrid architecture without core-drilling, trenching, or pouring new concrete mounting pads. The mechanical upright post, pocket, and beam install onto the existing footprint, after which the removable steel or stainless-steel outer housing lowers over the frame and secures via base fixing bolts.
Control Electronics and Communication Modules
At the core of the FAAC B680H is the factory-integrated E680 control board, positioned at the upper section of the upright inside a protective transparent enclosure. The E680 control unit integrates two high-sensitivity inductive loop detectors directly on the main board, eliminating the requirement and enclosure space for standalone external vehicle detector modules. For facility-wide access integration, the board features dedicated multi-pin communication interfaces designed for plug-in GSM, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi modules. These digital communication links permit remote diagnostics, system configuration, and data streaming into enterprise parking management networks and automated building management systems. The transparent upper casing is also factory-fitted with an internal industrial DIN rail, providing immediate mounting space for third-party relays, surge suppressors, and access terminal modules.
Electrical Supply and Backup Power Systems
The barrier operates across international power standards via an internal high-efficiency switching power supply accepting wide-range AC inputs from 100 V AC to 240 V AC at 50/60 Hz. For continuous facility access control during mains outages, the system integrates with the dedicated FAAC XBAT 24 emergency backup power module. This module incorporates an onboard intelligent battery charger and high-performance Nickel-Metal Hydride backup batteries (they are not included) directly into the cabinet framework, allowing continuous 24V hybrid operation without requiring oversized external inverter cabinets.
Beam Profiles, Arm Hardware, and Safety Peripherals
The barrier drive output connects to modular round or elliptical windproof aluminium extrusion profiles designed to handle lane clearances between 2 m and 8 m (beam physical lengths from 2.3 m to 8.3 m). Modular long beams up to 8.3 m assemble from two modular segments joined with an invisible internal connection joint. The mechanical interface natively accommodates the following specialized hardware assemblies:
- Modular Beam Profiles: Engineered for S-profile and L-profile round or elliptical windproof aluminium arms with integral bottom rubber bumpers and dedicated slots for full-length red/green warning LED light strips.
- Break-Out Pivoting Pockets: Compatible with pivoting pocket assemblies for round profiles to prevent mechanical shearing during vehicle impact collisions.
- Anti-Vandalism Valves: Hydraulic port interfaces accept the FAAC anti-vandalism hydraulic protection valve to protect the internal 3.2 l/min hydraulic pump and mechanical drive linkages against forced arm manipulation.
- Mechanical Emergency Release: Supports the FAAC anti-panic group mechanism for rapid manual release during facility emergencies.
- Under-Beam Barriers: Accepts modular aluminium skirt kits available in 2 m and 3 m segment lengths to deter unauthorized pedestrian crawl-through underneath the lowered beam.
- Tip Supports: Connects to fixed or swinging end support feet engineered specifically for round S and L profile beam configurations.
- Encoder Feedback: Factory-integrated absolute encoder hardware interfaces with the E680 microprocessor for continuous position monitoring, electronic deceleration control, and obstacle reversal to satisfy pedestrian passage impact curve parameters.
