About this product .

The FAAC B614 automatic barrier cabinet is fabricated from heavy-gauge structural steel treated with a 20 μm pre-hot dip galvanization process and finished in an electrostatically applied polyester powder coat. This dual-layer corrosion defense shields critical mechanical and electrical sub-assemblies in severe outdoor environments across a wide operating ambient temperature range of -20°C to +55°C.
At the core of the drive system is a 24V DC brushed electric motor producing up to 300 Nm of torque with a nominal power rating of 165 W. The internal transmission utilizes a quadrilateral lever mechanism operating through two reduction stages to deliver exceptionally fluid beam kinetics, rapid opening cycles of under two seconds for 3-meter spans, and reliable continuous-duty cycle performance.
Precision movement management is governed by an incremental encoder integrated directly inside the motor housing. Working in conjunction with synchronized electronic and mechanical deceleration stages, the encoder continuously monitors rotational speed and positioning to deliver advanced anti-crushing safety and automatic reverse-on-obstacle functionality.
Electronics are managed by the onboard FAAC E614 control board, which is mounted directly within the upper section of the cabinet under a protective IP55 rated cover. The unit natively supports FAAC BUS 2Easy non-polarised 2-wire peripheral wiring and features an intuitive digital programming display for rapid on-site commissioning.
The B614 accommodates both aerodynamic round S-profile beams (Ø 75 mm) up to 6 meters in length and rectangular beam profiles up to 4.8 meters. Foundation and Civil Works Preparation

The cabinet base requires a rigid, level concrete plinth capable of supporting dynamic mechanical shear forces during rapid cycle deceleration. Anchoring must be executed using the dedicated foundation plate (part 490183), which directly matches the barrier's 305 mm x 230 mm installation base footprint.

Conduits for primary AC mains power and auxiliary control cabling must route centrally through the foundation cutout before pouring or setting anchoring hardware. Ensure conduits rise sufficiently above the finished foundation surface to prevent water ingress into the lower cabinet compartment.

Boom Profile and Bracket Assembly

The standard B614 cabinet package includes the drive body, electromechanical gearmotor, quadrilateral lever transmission, built-in control board, installation accessories, and triangular release key. The boom mounting bracket is not included in the standard drive unit package and must be specified to match the intended beam profile:

Round S-Profile (Ø 75 mm): Requires dedicated beam bracket part 428445. Compatible with single sections from 2000 mm to 5000 mm.
Rectangular Profile: Requires dedicated beam bracket part 428342. Compatible with lengths of 2315 mm, 2815 mm, 3815 mm, and 4815 mm.
Extended 6-Meter Configuration: To achieve a full 6-meter span using round S-beams, install modular segments using the internal beam joint (part 428615) paired with dedicated tie rod kits (part 428715).

Both round S-profiles and rectangular beams include factory protective rubber edges. Active safety edges cannot be installed on the beam profile due to mechanical balancing limitations.

Counterbalance Spring Calibration

Accurate balancing is required to minimize load on the 24V brushed electric motor and internal 300 Nm reduction gearbox. Spring arrangements depend strictly on the net boom length and installed accessory load:

Single Spring Setup: Accommodates bare round S-beams ranging from 1900 mm up to 4400 mm in total length.
Dual Spring Setup: Required for beam lengths between 4410 mm and 6000 mm, or shorter spans equipped with mechanical accessories such as support legs, luminous cords, or skirt kits. Dual spring configurations require the double spring fittings pack (part 490186).

Electrical Supply and Peripheral Interfacing

The primary power connection requires a 220-240V AC supply at 50/60 Hz wired directly into the integrated FAAC E614 control unit (part 63001034). The control board is ergonomically mounted in the upper section of the cabinet beneath an IP55-rated protective enclosure, isolated from the cabinet’s overall IP44 steel casing (treated with 20 μm pre-hot dip galvanization and polyester powder coating).

Safety photocells and detection devices connect via 2-wire non-polarised FAAC BUS 2Easy terminals. Continuous operation during utility power failure can be maintained by connecting the optional XBAT 24 emergency battery kit (they are not included) (part 390923). Auxiliary lines support the 12 m luminous cord pack (part 390993) and integrated flashing traffic light (part 410032).

Initial Commissioning and Manual Override

Travel limits and electronic deceleration profiles are calibrated via the E614 programming display, synchronized with the motor's internal incremental encoder. Verify mechanical stop points at 0° horizontal and 80° to 90° vertical travel. In the event of primary power interruption during testing, manual operation is engaged using the supplied triangular release key on the external cabinet override mechanism.

Preventive Maintenance and Servicing Guidelines for FAAC B614 Barrier

Ergonomic Top-Mounted Electronics and Routine Diagnostics

Routine service for the FAAC B614 electromechanical barrier is streamlined by the physical placement of the FAAC E614 control board (part 63001034). Installed directly inside the top compartment of the barrier housing beneath an independent protective enclosure, the control unit allows field technicians to conduct parameter adjustments, status diagnostics, and loop checks at standing height without dismantling internal mechanical drive components.

The dedicated control unit enclosure provides an IP55 ingress protection rating, safeguarding sensitive electronic circuitry from dust ingress and moisture during routine cabinet access. Technicians can review parameter settings, check integrated OMNIDEC radio decoding, and verify connections for 2-wire non-polarised FAAC BUS 2Easy safety devices directly on the onboard programming display during regular operational maintenance.

Mechanical Transmission and 24V Drive Inspection

The electromechanical drive mechanism operates on continuous-duty cycles utilizing a 24V DC brushed motor rated at 165 W maximum power, delivering up to 300 Nm maximum torque. Periodic preventive maintenance should focus on verifying smooth mechanical movement through the quadrilateral lever system and its two reduction stages, which govern steady boom acceleration and deceleration cycles.

Maintenance personnel should inspect the motor-integrated incremental encoder, which delivers accurate positional feedback for automated electronic deceleration, mechanical limit positioning, and obstacle detection. Verify that electronic braking and mechanical stops engage seamlessly without excessive mechanical vibration at the horizontal closed position and the vertical open position.

Counterbalance Spring Calibration and Boom Assembly Servicing

Proper counterbalance spring tension is essential for maintaining motor service life, smooth lever motion, and high-speed operation (opening times under 2 seconds to 80° with a 3 m beam). Mechanical balancing must be verified periodically or whenever boom profiles and continuous-run accessories are serviced across spans up to 6 meters:

Single-Spring Inspection: Verify tension settings on single-spring assemblies balancing round S-profile beams (Ø 75 mm) between 1900 mm and 4400 mm configured without heavy supplementary accessories.
Dual-Spring Inspection: Check tension alignment across both springs when utilizing the double spring fittings pack (part 490186) for beam spans between 4410 mm and 6000 mm, segmented beams assembled with internal joint part 428615 and tie rod kit part 428715, or installations incorporating 2 m (part 428441) or 3 m (part 428446) skirt kits.
Balancing Restrictions: Note that active safety edges cannot be installed on the beam profiles for balancing reasons. Field personnel should instead inspect the physical condition of the standard factory-fitted protective rubber edges on round S and rectangular boom profiles.

Cabinet Housing, Foundation Anchoring, and Environmental Protection

The barrier cabinet features a 40 kg structural steel chassis protected by a 20 μm pre-hot dip galvanized treatment and a polyester powder-coated finish (available in Red RAL 3020 or Grey RAL 9006). Maintenance routines should include checking external cabinet surfaces and perimeter seals to preserve the IP44 body rating under operating ambient temperatures ranging from -20°C to +55°C.

Inspect the cabinet anchoring nuts secured to the dedicated foundation plate (part 490183) across the 305 mm x 230 mm base footprint. Ensure no ground shifting or operational vibration has loosened the anchoring hardware during continuous-duty vehicle cycles powered by the 220-240V ~ 50/60 Hz mains supply.

Manual Override Verification and Emergency Backup Readiness

Facility maintenance schedules should incorporate periodic operational checks of the manual release mechanism. Disengagement is initiated externally using the triangular release key supplied in the standard B614 cabinet pack, releasing the electromechanical drive to allow manual boom positioning during power loss or system testing. Where deployed, the optional XBAT 24 emergency battery kit (they are not included) (part 390923) should be inspected for terminal integrity, clean wire connections, and proper operational standby voltage.
