System Architecture, Control Board, and Peripheral Compatibility

The FAAC B614 24V electromechanical barrier gate is engineered as a modular vehicle access system, operating on a 220–240V AC (50/60 Hz) mains input to power its internal 24V DC brushed motor. System integration is coordinated via factory-matched mechanical interfaces, digital safety loops, and modular electronic hardware housed within the IP44-rated cabinet (with an IP55 internal enclosure for the control unit).

Electronic Control Unit and BUS Communication

The barrier is powered by the integrated FAAC E614 electronic control unit (part 63001034), positioned in the upper compartment of the cabinet beneath a dedicated protective cover. This arrangement provides direct access to parameter setup via its integrated display.

  • Radio Decoding: Integrated OMNIDEC radio decoding system is embedded on the E614 board for direct wireless receiver matching.
  • Safety Peripherals: Supports FAAC BUS 2Easy technology, enabling connection of safety photocells and monitoring modules using two non-polarised wires.
  • Motion Feedback: Integrates directly with the motor-mounted incremental encoder, enabling fine electronic deceleration alongside mechanical stops for obstacle detection and reverse-on-obstacle compliance.

Boom Arm Profiles and Mounting Brackets

The bare cabinet does not include a beam attachment bracket as standard. Installers must select and order the dedicated mounting pocket to match the chosen beam geometry:

  • Round Beams S (Ø 75 mm): Requires dedicated beam bracket S (part 428445). Factory section lengths comprise 2000 mm, 2300 mm, 3300 mm, 4300 mm, and 5000 mm profiles. All S-profile round beams include protective rubber edges. Due to balancing constraints, active safety edges cannot be installed on these beam profiles.
  • Rectangular Beams: Requires dedicated rectangular beam bracket (part 428342). Standard section lengths include 2315 mm, 2815 mm, 3815 mm, and 4815 mm profiles, complete with protective rubber profiles.
  • 6-Meter Boom Assembly: Spanning a full 6-meter passage requires coupling specific round beam segments using the internal boom joint (part 428615) in conjunction with dedicated tie rod kits (part 428715).

Balancing Spring and Foundation Hardware Compatibility

Counterbalance geometry utilizes an internal quadrilateral lever system with two reduction stages. Counterbalance springs must be configured strictly in accordance with beam length and total accessory payload:

Configuration / SpanSpring RequirementRequired Mechanical Hardware

Supported Add-On Accessories and Power Backup

The mechanical and electrical architecture of the FAAC B614 supports seamless field installation of the following continuous-run optional accessories:

  • Pedestrian Deterrent Skirts: Compatible with 2 m skirt kits (part 428441) and 3 m skirt kits (part 428446) for barrier under-clearance closure.
  • Boom Supports: Compatible with cabinet-aligned adjustable end foot assemblies (part 428805) or standalone ground-mounted adjustable support forks (part 428806).
  • Signaling and Visual Safety: Direct terminal connection for the 12 m luminous cord pack (part 390993) and the cabinet-integrated flashing traffic light (part 410032).
  • Emergency Power: Connects directly to the FAAC XBAT 24 emergency battery kit (they are not included) (part 390923) for continued barrier operation during primary AC mains power failure.
