Built-In System Diagnostics and Calibration

The ZKTeco ZKX5030A Single-energy Compact X-ray Inspection System incorporates automated self-diagnosis routines and built-in maintenance utilities to verify functional integrity prior to daily operation. Technicians can execute system tests directly through the integrated Windows 10 operating workstation to inspect detector response across the L-shaped single-energy detector line and validate image processing algorithms, including Perfect View (PV), High Penetration (HP), Low Penetrate (LP), and Dynamic Scan (DS). Regular verification of the Density Threshold Alert (DTA) and Threat Image Projection (TIP) modules ensures that threat detection and automated operator training systems remain properly calibrated.

Controlled Power Cycling and Shutdown Protocol

To preserve database integrity across the 128 GB SSD and 2 TB HDD storage partitions (capable of archiving up to 200,000 scanned images), the system requires a strict shutdown procedure:

  • Turn the main key switch to the 'OFF' position on the control interface.
  • Allow the automated operating system shutdown routine to complete; the monitor displays a shutdown prompt noting that Windows will power down within one minute.
  • Verify that the green operational status indicator light has completely extinguished before switching off external mains isolation breakers or disconnecting the 220 VAC ±10% / 110 VAC ±10% power supply.

Generator Cooling and Environmental Management

The 80 kV, 0.6 mA X-ray generator utilizes a sealed oil bath cooling system assisted by forced air ventilation. Routine maintenance requires keeping the forced air intake and exhaust vents clear of dust and debris to maintain thermal dissipation efficiency within the specified operating temperature range of -10°C to +45°C (storage rating: -20°C to +60°C) and non-condensing relative humidity levels between 5% and 95%. When servicing internal compartments, technicians must unlock the removable side access panels using the dedicated triangle key and disengage the positioning posts.

Conveyor Belt and Mechanical Subsystem Care

The 500 mm wide by 300 mm high inspection tunnel features a motorized conveyor mechanism operating at 0.20 m/s with a belt height of 650 mm. Mechanical servicing tasks include:

  • Inspecting belt tracking and surface tension to prevent drift across continuous duty cycles.
  • Ensuring total conveyor loading does not exceed the maximum rating of 120 kg (evenly distributed).
  • Inspecting the optional entry and exit folding roller shelves attached via M6 hardware to ensure smooth parcel transitions.
  • Checking the height-adjustable support foot cups and locking nuts to ensure the core chassis remains stationary and level when disengaged from the heavy-duty mobility wheels.

Radiation Safety and Shielding Verification

Periodic radiac surveys must be scheduled using certified radiation detection meters to verify that external leakage rates remain below 0.3 μSv/h measured at a distance of 10 cm from all external surfaces, well within standard cabinet X-ray regulatory thresholds of < 5 μSv/h. Protective lead curtains at the tunnel entry and exit must be inspected for physical wear or creasing to ensure film safety compliance at ASA/ISO 1600.

Workstation and Peripheral Maintenance

Keep the 21.5-inch Full HD (1920x1080) colour LED screen clean using anti-static screen cleaners. Ensure the RJ45 TCP/IP communication line linked to the ZKBio SIS management platform is securely seated. When operating the wireless operator interface, replace the keyboard and mouse batteries (they are not included) promptly when low-voltage warnings appear to prevent input latency during active screening.
