The ZKTeco Saturn S1200 is engineered specifically as a dual-swing intermediate barrier turnstile to facilitate multi-lane entrance expansion. In multi-lane pedestrian access control configurations, the Saturn S1200 is positioned between outer turnstile units to create adjoining lanes without requiring redundant pedestals. Installation layouts must be planned around the required walkway clearance: the system supports a standard lane width of 650 mm and can be deployed in an optional 900 mm wide-lane configuration to accommodate accessible transit requirements.
Installers must verify that adjacent turnstile pedestals are aligned parallel to each other along a true baseline. Correct cabinet spacing ensures that the dual-swing barrier wings achieve unobstructed movement arcs while maintaining correct optical line-of-sight across the passage zone.
Electrical Feed & Power Infrastructure
Site electrical preparation requires routed conduits through the floor slab into the base of the turnstile chassis. The Saturn S1200 operates on a standard mains power supply of 110V / 220V ±10% AC at 50Hz/60Hz. Because the internal DC brushless motor drive maintains quiet operation with acoustic noise levels below 60 dB, dedicated earthing and properly isolated power lines are recommended to protect the digital motor drive and safety electronics from transient power fluctuations.
Infrared Sensor Alignment & Safety Calibration
Each Saturn S1200 turnstile is equipped with 4 pairs of infrared sensors engineered for dual-zone pinch protection and pedestrian transit detection. During cabinet positioning and anchoring, precise leveling across the floor is critical to ensure that opposing optical transmitters and receivers are aligned accurately.
- Safety Zones: Four infrared sensor pairs establish active protection zones that prevent the dual-swing wings from closing while pedestrians or carried items remain in the swing path.
- Motion Calibration: The onboard DC brushless motor controller provides adjustable opening and closing timing, configured for an average barrier movement speed of 1 second per cycle.
- Diagnostics: Alignment verification must be conducted before final floor bolting to ensure rapid response times and avoid false safety triggers.
Credential Reader Integration
The upper housing incorporates a polycarbonate lid with 2.5D scratch-resistant tempered glass embedded in the authentication area. Technicians can install access control peripherals using multiple factory-supported integration formats:
- Undermount RFID Readers: Mounted underneath the 2.5D tempered glass surface for proximity card authentication.
- Undermount QR Code Scanners: Positioned behind the glass viewing window for visitor barcode and mobile credential scanning.
- Surface-Mount Terminals: Bracket-mounted facial recognition terminals positioned for direct user line-of-sight.
Chassis Anchoring, Enclosure Rating & Maintenance Access
The turnstile chassis is constructed from cold-rolled SPCC steel conforming to the GB700 standard, providing structural rigidity for high-traffic environments. The enclosure achieves an IPX4 protection rating against dust ingress and splashing water, making it suitable for corporate offices, commercial buildings, institutional premises, and transit facilities. Internally, the modular mechanical layout supports a Mean Cycles Between Failures (MCBF) of 3 million cycles and enables field servicing with a Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) of less than 60 minutes.
