ZKTeco SA32-E Standalone Access Control Terminal Installation & Wiring Guide

The ZKTeco SA32-E (KTI01001002EA32) is a single-door standalone RFID and keypad access controller engineered for streamlined surface-mount deployment. Because the unit operates completely independently without requiring network data lines, local area network infrastructure, or external PC software, installation focuses primarily on clean physical mounting, correct DC power delivery, and direct terminal connections to door hardware.

Mechanical Mounting and Physical Placement

The SA32-E features a compact form factor measuring 120 mm (L) × 78 mm (W) × 22 mm (D) with a net unit weight of 110 g (0.11 kg). The device is designed for vertical surface mounting on flat wall surfaces adjacent to the secured entry door or access point.

Installers should position the device at an ergonomic operating height to allow convenient user interaction with the integrated mechanical keypad (numeric keys 0–9, *, #, and dedicated bell call button) and optimal presentation of 125 kHz EM proximity credentials to the internal contactless card reader, which provides a read range of 1 cm to 15 cm.

Power Supply and Electrical Wiring

The terminal requires an external regulated power source rated at DC 12V ±10% (operating voltage range: 10.8V DC to 13.2V DC) and exhibits an operating current consumption below 100 mA.

Maintaining adequate line voltage at the terminal is critical. Voltage drops falling below 10.8V DC can lead to lock relay dropouts, unresponsiveness, or failure to read 125 kHz RFID cards. For runs covering extended distances between the central 12V DC power supply and the door location, verify terminal voltage under load conditions.

Lock Control and Peripheral Interfacing

The SA32-E provides onboard interfaces for direct control of door locking mechanisms and standard access accessories without external interface modules:

  • Lock Outputs: Equipped with 1 Relay output and 1 PUSH (active low) output, allowing direct integration with standard 12V DC electronic locking hardware such as electromagnetic locks (EM locks), electric strikes, and electronic drop bolts.
  • Request-to-Exit (RTE): Features 1 dedicated door button port to wire momentary mechanical exit push buttons, allowing egress from inside the secured area.
  • Doorbell Interface: Features 1 dedicated doorbell port to trigger an external audible signaling chime when visitors press the call bell button on the numeric keypad.

Standalone Configuration and Keypad Programming

Initial device commissioning, master management code updates, and credential enrollment are performed directly at the terminal interface using structured keypad commands. The unit supports up to 1,000 user credentials and can be configured for 3 distinct verification modes: Card only, PIN only, or Card & PIN.

Visual and audible feedback during programming and access verification cycles is provided by the built-in LED status indicator lights and internal buzzer.
