ZKTeco FBL200 Installation & Commissioning Guide

Proper planning and installation of the ZKTeco FBL200 Single Lane Flap Barrier Turnstile ensure reliable perimeter security, pedestrian throughput of up to 30 people per minute, and seamless integration with facility access control networks.

Site Preparation and Physical Footprint

The ZKTeco FBL200 features a heavy-duty SUS304 stainless steel cabinet with a smooth finish and no exposed screws. The cabinet measures 1200 mm in length, 300 mm in width, and 980 mm in height, establishing a standard pedestrian lane passage width of 570 mm. Installation must occur on a level, structurally sound surface capable of supporting the unit's weight and continuous mechanical cycling.

The system is engineered for indoor installations or sheltered outdoor environments. Ambient operating conditions must remain within the operating temperature range of -28°C to 60°C and a relative humidity threshold of 5% to 80% (non-condensing).

Electrical & Power Connections

The turnstile operates across standard commercial mains power configurations, accepting AC 100–120V or AC 200–240V at 50/60Hz. Internal mechanics, including the acrylic retracting barrier wings, are driven by an efficient 24V / 40W DC motor with an opening response time of 0.8 seconds at a low operating noise level (≤30 dB).

For fail-safe compliance during electrical outages, the system supports emergency automatic retraction when connected to a compatible backup battery (they are not included).

Signal Interfaces & Access Control Integration

The FBL200 controller accommodates diverse credential readers, including RFID readers, IC/ID card interfaces, barcode scanners, and biometric fingerprint sensors. System integrators should wire credentials and peripheral equipment using the supported controller interfaces:

  • Input Trigger Interfaces: Accepts standard dry-contact relay opening signals or 12V level signals with a pulse width > 100ms.
  • Communication Ports: Integrated RS232 communication interface for system diagnostics and telemetry.
  • Fire-Fighting & Emergency Interface: Dedicated emergency input connects directly to building fire alarm systems to trigger automated wing retraction upon receipt of a fire signal.
  • Visual Direction Indicators: Integrated overhead LED indicators guide pedestrian passage and indicate lane access status.

Control Board Configuration & Setup

System setup is streamlined via the onboard LCD screen mounted directly on the flap barrier control board. Integrators can adjust passage directionality, set timeout durations for the automatic reset function (which cancels access rights if a user does not pass within the allotted timeframe), and verify safety sensors.

Safety Verification and Functional Checks

Prior to putting the lane into live operation, verify the dual infrared and mechanical anti-pinch protection mechanisms. If an obstruction is detected during wing reset, the DC motor halts movement automatically. Ensure the anti-shock locking function firmly locks the retractable acrylic baffles when no valid opening signal is present, and test that audible/visual alarms trigger during unauthorized or tailgating entry attempts.
