Donning, Adjustment, and Pre-Use Fitting Guide for Udyogi Tango II

Pre-Donning Structural and Component Inspection

Before donning the Udyogi Tango II (Tango 2) harness, industrial safety personnel must conduct a thorough physical and visual verification of the entire assembly. Begin by inspecting the 44 ± 1 mm high-strength polyester webbing for signs of chemical exposure, abrasions, cuts, fraying, or thermal damage. Examine the load-bearing stitching, constructed from white high tenacity virgin multifilament polyester thread, ensuring there are no pulled, cut, or broken stitches across all structural joints.

Inspect the metallic hardware, specifically the rear dorsal D-ring and the dual sternal chest D-rings, verifying they are completely free of burrs, deformation, deep pitting, or cracks. Crucially, locate and verify the built-in fall indicator. If the indicator displays evidence of activation or past arrest loading, the harness has sustained permanent dynamic stress and must be withdrawn immediately from service without being donned.

Systematic Donning Procedure

Follow a structured protocol to position the harness accurately over standard industrial workwear:

  • Hold and Orient: Grasp the harness by the single dorsal D-ring and gently shake the assembly to let all straps fall into position. Ensure none of the shoulder, chest, or thigh webbing straps are twisted.
  • Shoulder Positioning: Slip the harness over both shoulders sequentially, similar to putting on a jacket. Ensure the back dorsal D-ring rests squarely between the shoulder blades along the upper spine.
  • Thigh and Sub-Pelvic Alignment: Pull the ergonomic horizontal H-shaped thigh straps forward between the legs and route them around each upper thigh. Fasten the adjustment buckles securely. Verify that the sub-pelvic strap rests low across the buttocks, positioning itself comfortably beneath the pelvis to distribute potential arrest loads without shifting upward.
  • Chest Strap Engagement: Fasten the front chest strap buckle and align the two sternal D-rings centrally over the sternum.

Adjustment and Ergonomic Sizing Parameters

The Udyogi Tango II features fully adjustable straps across three key anatomical control zones: the chest, shoulders, and thighs. Correct sizing is essential to maintain compliance with EN 361:2002 and IS 3521 (Part 1): 2021 / IS 3521:1999 specifications, which certify a safe working load capacity of 100 kg.

Adjustment ZoneComponent ConfigurationProper Fit Standard
ShouldersDual vertical polyester webbing adjustment pointsSnug contact over shoulders without pulling the dorsal D-ring out of center.
ChestHorizontal chest strap linking sternal pointsPositioned at mid-chest level; holds shoulder straps secure without constricting breathing.
ThighsErgonomic horizontal H-shaped thigh strapsFirm fit around the thighs; engineered to prevent groin pressure while enabling full vertical and horizontal mobility.

To confirm correct tensioning, ensure the harness fits snug against the body while allowing an open hand to slip flat beneath the thigh and shoulder straps. The horizontal H-shaped thigh configuration ensures complete mobility during ladder climbing and structural work while eliminating localized pressure on the groin area.

Anchor Subsystem Integration

Integrating the Tango II harness with height safety equipment depends on the assigned work application:

  • Class A Fall Arrest Attachment: Connect shock-absorbing lanyards, self-retracting lifelines (SRLs), or Class A fall arrest systems exclusively to the single rear dorsal D-ring. Dynamic strength compliance ensures this connection point withstands drop tests with a 100 kg torso dummy at a 4-metre free fall distance.
  • Class L Climbing and Restraint Attachment: Connect guided-type fall arresters or ladder climbing safety systems directly to the two sternal D-rings located on the chest. Both sternal rings must be engaged simultaneously to maintain symmetric restraint and balanced load transfer during climbing operations.
