Installation and Integration Guide for Ahuja ACM-96CH Paging Microphone

System Placement and Desktop Positioning

The Ahuja ACM-96CH is an industrial-grade, single zone desktop paging microphone engineered for commercial public address setups, shopping malls, worship places, showrooms, conference halls, and auditoriums. Position the microphone base on a clean, flat, and stable operator desk or console surface near the sound control station.

The heavy aluminium die-cast top housing provides physical stability on desktop surfaces during routine operation. Adjust the 300 mm (12-inch) flexible gooseneck to orient the unidirectional dynamic cartridge directly toward the operator's speaking position to maintain optimal 2.0 mV/Pa acoustic sensitivity and clear vocal capture across the 50 to 10,000 Hz frequency response range.

Battery Installation for Electronic Chime Circuit

The internal multi-tone electronic chime circuitry requires dedicated direct-current power. To commission the chime function, prepare 2 × 1.5V (UM-3) pencil cells (they are not included).

  • Invert the desktop microphone base carefully on a soft surface to access the battery compartment.
  • Open the battery compartment cover located on the underside of the aluminium die-cast base.
  • Insert the 2 × 1.5V (UM-3) pencil cells (they are not included), strictly observing the indicated polarity markings inside the compartment.
  • Securely close the battery compartment cover. Note: Speech transmission via the dynamic cartridge functions through the amplifier circuit, but the pre-announcement chime requires active 2 × 1.5V (UM-3) pencil cells (they are not included).

Audio Signal Interfacing and Cable Routing

The ACM-96CH comes supplied with a 6-metre twin-core shielded low-noise cable terminating in a standard 6.3 mm (1/4-inch) phone plug. This shielded configuration prevents electromagnetic hum and induced noise interference along the cable run.

Connect the 6.3 mm (1/4-inch) phone plug directly into a 600-ohm microphone input jack on your PA mixer, preamplifier, or booster amplifier. Ensure the cable is routed neatly along equipment racks or cable channels without excessive tension, sharp bends, or close parallel routing alongside high-voltage AC mains lines.

Chime Volume Level Calibration

The output level of the integrated multi-tone electronic chime can be matched to the microphone voice level via a dedicated calibration preset.

  • Locate the chime sound level preset adjustment on the bottom side of the ACM-96CH base.
  • Use an appropriate trimmer tool or small flathead screwdriver to adjust the preset level.
  • Engage the chime switch and test through the connected PA system to calibrate the tone to the desired sound level relative to ambient room acoustics.

Operational Commissioning and Switch Testing

Once wired and powered, perform operational testing of the high-reliability switching mechanisms before handing off the system for live announcements:
