Control Panel, Protocol, and Mounting Base Compatibility

The Honeywell Morley-IAS HM-PTSE-AP multi-criteria detector is engineered specifically for integration into analog addressable fire detection loops utilizing Honeywell's proprietary communication architecture. Operating as an intelligent plug-in head, the detector pairs optical smoke sensing with Class A1R thermal monitoring, communicating continuous status updates to the master fire alarm control panel (FACP) using the Advanced Protocol (AP) signaling standard.

Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP) Compatibility

The HM-PTSE-AP is matched to Honeywell Morley-IAS addressable fire alarm control panels designed to supervise and interrogate Advanced Protocol (AP) field devices. It integrates natively with the following Morley-IAS panel platforms:

  • Morley-IAS DXc Series: Fully compatible with Morley-IAS DXc series panels across firmware releases R7, R8, and R9, supporting device supervision, parameter polling, and diagnostic status tracking.
  • Morley-IAS ZX Series: Supports configuration, loop mapping, and address polling on compatible ZX series intelligent addressable control panels.
  • Legacy Morley-IAS Systems: The detector is mechanically and electrically backwards compatible with existing Morley-IAS protocol loop circuits and heritage installations, facilitating panel upgrades without replacing intact field infrastructure.

Mounting Base Compatibility and Electrical Interfacing

Mechanical and electrical mounting of the HM-PTSE-AP requires a dedicated plug-in base from the intelligent series to interface with the loop wiring. The unit is designed to install directly into the B501AP intelligent detector base:

  • B501AP Plug-In Base: Serves as the standard terminal interface, providing a secure bayonet lock. When seated in the B501AP base, the detector assembly presents an overall height of 61 mm, an outer diameter of 102 mm, and a combined weight of 99 g.
  • Terminal Wire Gauge: Field termination screws on the B501AP base accept loop conductors up to 2.5 mm² in cross-sectional area, accommodating standard fire-resistant solid and stranded field cabling.
  • Loop Impedance Impact: Connecting the detector into the B501AP base introduces a nominal loop resistance of 20 mΩ (maximum 30 mΩ), allowing loop designers to calculate total circuit voltage drop accurately.

Loop Power and Remote Annunciation Parameters

When calculating loop loading and power supply capacity, system designers must account for the operating parameters of non-isolated HM-PTSE-AP units across the addressable circuit:

Operational MetricSpecification Value
Loop Operating Voltage Range15 to 32 V DC
Standby Current (No Communication)200 µA @ 24 V DC
Standby Current (LED Blink Enabled, 5s Interval)300 µA @ 24 V DC
Alarm LED Current3.5 mA @ 24 V DC
Remote Output Operating Voltage22.5 V DC @ 24 V DC
Remote Output Current Capability10.8 mA @ 24 V DC

Addressing and Commissioning Tool Compatibility

System commissioning requires setting decimal addresses via dual onboard rotary decade address switches located directly on the detector body, permitting straightforward manual addressing without necessitating proprietary handheld electronic programmers.

For periodic testing, loop maintenance, and compliance inspections, the HM-PTSE-AP supports in-situ functional verification using standard non-climb detector servicing poles and tools. Technicians can interrogate the optical chamber and thermal sensor elements without unseating the unit from its base.
