Honeywell Morley-IAS DXc2 Control Panel Installation & Wiring Guide

Mechanical Enclosure Mounting & Environmental Requirements

The Honeywell Morley-IAS DXc2 fire alarm control panel (Part Number 714-001-221) is housed in an enclosure measuring 391.5 mm (H) x 390 mm (W) x 147 mm (D). The unit features a mild steel rear chassis paired with a flame-retardant ABS plastic front cover compliant with BS EN 60950, finished in a gray-white shade similar to RAL 9002. The assembly carries an IP30 ingress protection rating and is engineered for indoor installation within an ambient operating temperature range of 0°C to 40°C and a non-condensing relative humidity between 5% and 95%.

For standard deployment, secure the rear enclosure directly to a flat, vertical interior wall using appropriate fixings through the designated chassis mounting holes. In flush-mount architectural setups, installers can utilize the optional flush-mount bezel kit (part number 795-113, external dimensions 473.5 x 471.5 x 13 mm). For standard equipment racks, an optional 19-inch rack mounting kit (part number 795-120) is available to house the DXc2 within standard IT and control room racks.

Cable Entry & Field Wiring Containment

Field cabling must enter the DXc2 enclosure through the pre-formed knock-outs provided on the chassis. The enclosure provides 25 knock-outs of 20 mm diameter located across the top face and 2 knock-outs of 20 mm diameter situated at the bottom. Maintain strict separation between high-voltage mains cabling and low-voltage field loop wiring in compliance with BS 5839 Part 1 and EN 54-2/4 installation practices. Utilize certified 20 mm cable glands or conduit adapters to preserve the enclosure’s IP30 integrity and secure all incoming field cables against mechanical strain.

Primary Power & Standby Battery Connections

The internal power supply unit requires an incoming primary electrical service of 230 V AC (+15%, -15% tolerance) at 50/60 Hz. The incoming mains feed must originate from a dedicated, unswitched, fused spur isolated specifically for fire system use.

Secondary power backup is provided by internal sealed lead-acid standby batteries (they are not included). The mild steel enclosure base accommodates up to two 12 V / 17 Ah backup batteries (they are not included), wired in series to supply the 24 V DC secondary operating voltage. Secondary batteries (they are not included) must be connected using the supplied internal battery leads, observing correct polarity to prevent power supply damage.

Field Loop, Sounder & Auxiliary Circuit Wiring

The DXc2 main board supports two analogue addressable loops and auxiliary control circuits:

  • Addressable Loops: Connect Loop 1 and Loop 2 field circuits directly to the board terminals. Each loop supports up to 500 mA of loop load capacity across compatible Apollo, Hochiki ESP, or System Sensor addressable devices. Mixing protocol families on the same panel is not supported; select one protocol family during setup.
  • Monitored Sounder Circuits: Terminate conventional notification circuits into the 2 monitored sounder outputs, which support up to 1 A per circuit.
  • Auxiliary DC Supply: A 24 V DC output rated at 250 mA (fused and resettable) is available for powering external modules and field relays.
  • Relay Outputs: Onboard volt-free contacts are provided for Fire, Fault, and programmable Auxiliary signaling functions.
  • Network & Peripheral Expansion: Connect remote repeaters via the dedicated onboard RS-485 port. For multi-panel networks, insert the optional DXc Network Card (part number 795-099) to build a fault-tolerant peer-to-peer ring network supporting up to 16 total loops (such as eight 2-loop DXc2 units). Optional zone indicator cards for 40 zones (795-102) or 80 zones (795-124) can also be installed internally if physical zone LED display is needed.

Power-Up, Auto-Learn & Commissioning

Prior to energizing, inspect all field wiring for short circuits, earth faults, and open circuits. Power up the unit via mains followed by the standby batteries (they are not included). The integrated 6 x 40 character (240 x 64 pixels) blue backlit LCD will illuminate. Initial system commissioning can be completed directly from the front panel navigation keys; the panel’s auto-learn routine detects and maps all loop-connected field devices in as few as five key presses. Advanced configuration, zone assignments (up to 160 software zones), and 7-day timer scheduling can be programmed using the front interface or through a PC via the Connexion programming tool using a dedicated USB interface cable (part number 020-891).
