Detector Loop Protocol Support

The Honeywell Morley-IAS DXc2 control panel (part number 714-001-221) supports leading analogue addressable device communication protocols, including Apollo, Hochiki ESP, and System Sensor, depending on the specific model and regional configuration. The architecture provides 2 independent analogue addressable loops, each capable of supplying up to 500 mA of loop driving current to power detectors, call points, and loop-powered output devices.

System designers must note that only one detection protocol family can be active on the control panel at any one time. Mixing field devices from different protocol manufacturers on the same control unit or across its loops is not supported. All loop calculations must observe the combined 500 mA per loop current budget to ensure compliant field device operation.

Multi-Panel Peer-to-Peer Networking

For scalable facility requirements, the DXc2 panel integrates into a distributed network using the optional plug-in DXc Network Card (part number 795-099). This enables panels to communicate across a true peer-to-peer, fault-tolerant ring network compliant with BS 5839 Part 1 network design recommendations.

The network architecture supports configurations up to a maximum capacity of 16 loops across the entire network topology. This allows integration of up to eight 2-loop DXc2 panels, sixteen 1-loop panels, four 4-loop panels, or any mixed configuration that totals no more than 16 loops.

Internal Expansion Cards and Peripheral Interfaces

While the standard DXc2 base panel is supplied without physical zone LED indicators, it supports up to 160 software-defined fire zones. Hardware zone indication can be expanded internally through dedicated plug-in expansion cards without replacing the central processing assembly:

  • 40-Zone LED Card Kit (Part Number 795-102): Adds 40 discrete visual zone LED indicators to the front panel interface.
  • 80-Zone LED Card Kit (Part Number 795-124): Adds 80 discrete visual zone LED indicators to the front panel interface.

For external peripheral hardware, the DXc2 includes an onboard RS-485 communication port designed for interfacing remote repeater panels and peripheral modules. Direct software servicing and system commissioning are supported via an integrated USB port, which connects to the PC-based Connexion programming tool using the dedicated USB upload/download interface cable (part number 020-891).

Field Circuits, Power Compatibility, and Enclosure Mounting

The panel incorporates onboard input/output circuits designed for standard commercial and industrial fire safety plant integration. It includes 2 monitored conventional sounder circuits rated up to 1 A each, along with onboard relay contacts for Fire, Fault, and Auxiliary programmable switching. Auxiliary field equipment can be powered using the panel's integrated 24 V DC auxiliary output, rated at 250 mA (fused/resettable).

Mains power input operates at 230 V AC (+15%, -15% tolerance) at 50/60 Hz. The enclosure interior provides space to house internal standby backup batteries (they are not included) of up to 2 x 12 V / 17 Ah capacity to maintain secondary power compliance. For physical mounting variants, the standard 391.5 x 390 x 147 mm enclosure can be converted using the optional flush-mounting bezel kit (part number 795-113, measuring 473.5 x 471.5 x 13 mm) or integrated into standard equipment racks using the 19-inch rack mounting kit (part number 795-120).
