Hitune BCS 2300 Counter Communication System Diagnostic and Troubleshooting Guide

The Hitune BCS 2300 two-way counter communication system provides voice transfer across partition glazing and security barriers using independent dual-channel 2W amplifiers, electret condenser capsules, and a 5-conductor interconnect line. When audio dropouts, acoustic squealing, or power interruptions occur in busy transaction environments such as bank cashier windows or hospital counters, use the following operational procedures to isolate and resolve faults.

System Inactivity and Power Fault Diagnosis

If neither the tabletop attendant station nor the customer speaker unit operates, verify the external AC power feed. The separate power supply unit (weighing 930 g with dimensions of W85 x H58 x D (they are not included)150 mm) requires a stable AC 220–240V power source at 50/60Hz.

If line voltage is confirmed but the system shows no status activity, the internal protection circuit may have tripped. The BCS 2300 incorporates a 1 x 0.5A AC fuse to safeguard electronic audio stages from line surges. Disconnect the power supply from the mains outlet before inspecting the fuse holder. If the fuse filament is open, replace it using the spare 0.5A fuse provided in the standard accessory package. Do not substitute fuses of higher amperage ratings.

Acoustic Feedback, Howling, and Squealing

High-pitched squealing or audio howl happens when sound from either the attendant speaker or the exterior customer speaker loops back into its adjacent electret condenser microphone capsule. Each amplifier channel provides up to 2W maximum audio power, which can overload acoustic separation across thin partition barriers.

To correct feedback loops, utilize the independent rotary potentiometers located on the attendant base station (dimensions W139 x H65 x D (they are not included)183 mm):

  • Lower the dedicated Talk control rotary knob to reduce transmission gain driving the exterior customer station (Ø98 x D (they are not included)52 mm).
  • Adjust the independent Listen control knob downward until the customer audio channel ceases driving the attendant speaker into oscillation.
  • Reposition the 20-inch flexible gooseneck microphone stalk so the capsule points directly at the attendant's mouth rather than toward the glass barrier or ceiling reflections.

Customer Microphone Audio Dropouts and Auto-Mute Function

A common operational symptom is the customer station appearing to turn off or fail to transmit patron speech after the counter remains idle. This is an integrated circuit function rather than a mechanical wiring defect.

The BCS 2300 incorporates an Auto-Mute circuit that automatically attenuates customer side transmission after approximately 30 seconds of inactivity to keep exterior ambient concourse noise from bleeding into the cashier work area. Check the physical Auto-Mute ON/OFF toggle switch located on the attendant unit console. If ambient noise conditions require continuous open transmission from the customer zone, switch the toggle to Auto-Mute OFF.

Voice Priority Interruptions and Headset Jack Verification

The attendant electret microphone features voice priority over the customer's microphone capsule. When the attendant speaks, transmission from the customer station is suppressed to maintain clear transactional control. If exterior speech is unexpectedly blocked, ensure the attendant is not resting hands near the gooseneck capsule or depressing any active override controls.

If an optional Hitune Boss HBM-50 headband microphone is plugged into the console's integrated 3.5 mm auxiliary socket, ensure the jack is fully seated. A partially inserted 3.5 mm plug can bypass the main 20-inch gooseneck stalk while failing to establish contact with the headset's electret element.

Interconnect Cable and Hardware Integrity

Intermittent speech cut-offs or total audio channel failure usually correlate to physical wiring damage along the customer partition run:

SymptomProbable CauseResolution Action
Customer station completely silent; attendant unit operates normally.Severed conductor or loose connection in the 4.5 m dedicated link cable.Inspect the 5-conductor interconnect cable along the partition frame; verify terminations at the attendant base.
Customer unit vibrating or producing distorted audio output.Loose mounting on glass or acoustic barrier partition.Re-secure the 480 g customer unit using the supplied M4 moulded screws or replace degraded adhesive with fresh self-adhesive Dual Lock tape.
Intermittent customer transmission during continuous conversation.Auto-Mute engaged or electret condenser capsule obstructed.Set the Auto-Mute toggle switch to OFF; clear debris from the front acoustic ports of the Ø98 mm customer housing.
No audio on either channel; power indicator unlit.AC input disconnected or 0.5A circuit protection fuse blown.Check AC 220–240V supply connection; replace the 1 x 0.5A AC fuse with the supplied factory replacement fuse.
