Pre-Installation Overview & Hardware Layout
The Hitune BCS 2300 two-way counter intercom system facilitates clear duplex communication across transparent glass partitions, transaction windows, and security barriers. Successful deployment requires the strategic positioning of three discrete hardware elements: the attendant master console, the customer exterior sub-station, and the external power supply unit. Total boxed package weight is 2.74 kg.
The attendant console features a silver finish, weighs 1.50 kg, and has a footprint measuring W139 x H65 x D (they are not included)183 mm (excluding the integrated 20-inch flexible gooseneck microphone stalk). Place the attendant station on a stable, level desk surface within comfortable operational reach of the cashier or teller, positioning the electret condenser gooseneck capsule toward the operator's natural seated speaking position.
Customer Sub-Station Mounting Procedures
The circular customer sub-station measures Ø98 x D (they are not included)52 mm, weighs 480 g, and houses an internal electret condenser microphone and speaker driver with up to 2W maximum audio output. The package provides two distinct mounting options depending on the composition of the counter barrier:
- Glass Surface Mounting via DUAL LOCK: Clean the counter barrier surface thoroughly to remove grease and dust. Apply the 2 pieces of supplied self-adhesive DUAL LOCK tape to firmly secure the flat rear base of the customer unit directly to the transparent partition glass at chest or speech level.
- Partition Screwed Assembly: For partitions, woodwork, or frames that support mechanical drilling, mount the customer housing securely using the 2 supplied M4 moulded screws.
Interconnection Wiring & Cable Routing
Interfacing between the exterior customer station and the attendant base unit utilizes the factory-supplied 4.5-metre interconnecting cable featuring a 5-conductor architecture. Route the 5-conductor wiring along partition frameworks or through a dedicated counter grommet hole to eliminate mechanical strain and prevent accidental snagging by transactions or counter traffic. Ensure that the 4.5 m lead is safely tied off without pinching or excessive bend radiuses that could compromise signal fidelity between the internal 2W amplifiers.
Power Supply Unit Integration
The external power supply module measures W85 x H58 x D (they are not included)150 mm and weighs 930 g. Install the power enclosure in a protected, ventilated location beneath or behind the counter counterwork. Verify that the operating utility supply matches the hardware rating of AC 220–240V at 50/60Hz. The primary internal electronics are protected by an AC fuse rated at 1 x 0.5A (with one additional spare 0.5A fuse provided in the hardware accessories pack). Connect the DC power delivery lead from the power brick directly to the attendant master console prior to energizing the AC wall socket.
Audio Calibration, Mode Configuration & Commissioning
Once wired and powered, commission the system by calibrating operating levels to eliminate acoustic loop feedback across the partition barrier:
- Rotary Speech Level Adjustment: The attendant station includes independent rotary level dials for the Talk and Listen operational paths. With conversation active across the counter, balance the rotary Talk control (attendant-to-customer 2W channel) and Listen control (customer-to-attendant channel) until vocal reproduction is articulate without causing acoustic howling.
- Auto-Mute Toggle Selection: Set the counter's Auto-Mute toggle switch to the ON position to minimize exterior lobby noise bleed. In this mode, the system automatically mutes the customer microphone circuit after approximately 30 seconds of inactivity, instantly unmuting upon fresh speech detection. Attendant voice priority ensures the teller override functions whenever both parties speak simultaneously.
- Auxiliary Headset Option: If using an optional operator headset (such as the Hitone Boss HBM-50), plug the 3.5 mm termination jack directly into the attendant console's dedicated side audio port to bypass the 20-inch desk gooseneck microphone.
