4-Wire Bus Architecture and Core Connections
The Hikvision DS-KIS204T video intercom kit employs an analog 4-wire interconnect bus between the outdoor door station (DS-KB2411T-IM) and the indoor station (DS-KH2220-S). The unified 4-wire interface consolidates four discrete transmission channels into a single run: 1-channel analog video input, 1-channel bidirectional audio input/output, 1-channel 12 VDC power distribution, and 1-channel system grounding. The factory bundle includes a 5-meter 4-wire connection cable along with standard mounting accessories to facilitate immediate bench testing and short-run deployment.
Transmission Distance and RVV4 Cable Sizing
When extending wiring across residential villa perimeters or detached structural layouts, conductors must be selected strictly in accordance with distance-to-gauge specifications. Utilizing undersized conductors can cause signal attenuation across the 1920 × 1080 camera sensor feed (stream resolution 960 × 576) or degrade audio processing features like noise suppression and echo cancellation. The required RVV4 copper cable cross-sections are detailed below:
| Transmission Distance (TD) | Required RVV4 Cable Specification |
|---|
| TD ≤ 10 m | RVV4 × 0.2 mm² |
| 10 m | RVV4 × 0.5 mm² |
| 30 m | RVV4 × 0.75 mm² |
| 50 m | RVV4 × 1.5 mm² |
Indoor Station (DS-KH2220-S) Mounting Procedures
The DS-KH2220-S indoor station features physical dimensions of 195.8 mm in width, 132.8 mm in height, and 18.39 mm in depth (7.7" × 5.2" × 0.7") housing a 7-inch TFT LCD (800 × 480 resolution) and physical operation buttons. The indoor station supports two primary wall-mounting configurations:
- Surface Wall Mounting with Junction Box: The included wall mounting bracket interfaces directly with standard electrical junction boxes recessed into the interior wall, routing power and signal wiring neatly behind the chassis.
- Direct Surface Wall Mounting: Where a junction box is absent, the mounting bracket secures directly to masonry or drywall using appropriate wall anchors and screws, accommodating surface-routed wiring through cable entry slots.
The indoor station is energized via the included 12 VDC European power supply adapter and operates with a rated power consumption of ≤5 W.
Outdoor Door Station (DS-KB2411T-IM) Placement and Alignment
The DS-KB2411T-IM door station measures 128 mm (H) × 42 mm (W) × 24.8 mm (D) and incorporates a single call button alongside an integrated 1/2.7-inch CMOS camera. When determining installation height and position, engineers should account for the camera lens viewing angles: 66.2° horizontal field of view (FOV) and 37.2° vertical FOV. Proper height placement ensures visiting pedestrians fall squarely within the optical frame for captured picture storage.
For installations subject to harsh weather conditions, the door station can be fitted with the optional DS-KABV24-A outdoor protective shield. Both units are rated for continuous operation within a temperature band of -10° C to +55° C (14° F to 131° F) and a relative humidity range of 10% to 90%.
Door Lock Relay and Access Control Integration
The door station incorporates 1 onboard relay output dedicated to external access control hardware. This dry-contact relay interfaces directly with electronic strikes, magnetic door locks, or gate automation controllers. The door station draws its operational power (12 VDC, maximum 5 W) from the shared 4-wire trunk, while the connected electric lock must be wired and powered in accordance with its specific electrical load requirements.
