Hardware, Controller, and Infrastructure Compatibility

The FAAC B680H hybrid automatic hydraulic boom barrier (ERP reference KTI0200200DEQ80H) is engineered for broad mechanical, electrical, and network compatibility across industrial traffic management, parking access control, and high-frequency perimeter security installations. Operating on a universal high-efficiency switching power supply accepting 100 Vac to 240 Vac at 50/60 Hz (drawing 240 W absorbed power and 1.1 A at 230 V), the internal 36 Vdc brushless electric motor and hydraulic pump assembly integrate directly into diverse commercial and industrial site power infrastructures.

Legacy Civil and Foundation Retrocompatibility

For brownfield upgrades and facility modernizations, the FAAC B680H barrier chassis is fully retrocompatible with the existing foundation plates of legacy FAAC 620 and FAAC 640 automatic boom barriers. This footprint alignment eliminates the requirement to core, excavate, or recast concrete civil foundations when replacing older FAAC hydraulic units. The assembly architecture allows field teams to anchor the internal load-bearing upright post, pocket, and beam first, after which the removable steel or stainless-steel outer housing is slid down over the upright and bolted to the base plate without dismounting the drive mechanics.

E680 Control Board and Network Communications

Central processing and peripheral supervision are handled by the integrated FAAC E680 microprocessor control board, installed within a transparent enclosure mounted directly to a pre-fitted DIN rail in the barrier's top compartment. The E680 architecture supports two-step automated setup and provides dedicated communication integration via:

  • Network and Telemetry Modules: Dedicated plug-in connection ports for proprietary GSM, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi interface modules to integrate the barrier with central BMS, SCADA, or cloud-based parking management networks.
  • Integrated Vehicle Detection: Two onboard, high-sensitivity inductive loop detectors engineered directly into the E680 controller, allowing direct termination of roadway safety and closing loops without auxiliary external loop detector racks.
  • Programmable I/O: Multiple programmable inputs and outputs for direct hardwired interfacing with third-party access control peripherals, including RFID readers, push buttons, keypads, and safety photocells.
  • Movement Monitoring: Direct interface with an integrated absolute encoder that manages motor rotation speed from 1,000 RPM to 6,000 RPM, continuous electronic deceleration curves, and obstacle reversal safety.

Beam Profiles and Mechanical Hardware Accessories

The barrier mechanism accommodates passage widths from 2 m up to 8 m (supporting total beam lengths up to 8.3 m). Long-span installations utilize a modular beam architecture connecting two arm sections via an invisible internal connection joint. Mechanical compatibility covers the following hardware options:

  • Beam Profiles: Windproof round or elliptically profiled aluminium modular beams fitted with protective bottom rubber bumpers.
  • Pivoting Pocket: Compatible with specialized breakout pocket assemblies for round pivoting beams to mitigate drive damage during vehicle collisions.
  • Under-Beam Skirts: Direct mounting compatibility with 2 m and 3 m skirt kit modules to deter pedestrian passage underneath the lowered beam.
  • Beam Supports: Mechanical compatibility with dedicated end support feet for stabilization across extended clear spans.

Auxiliary Power and Hydraulic Protection Compatibility

To sustain operation during power grid interruptions, the internal electrical system is compatible with the optional XBAT 24 backup module (batteries are not included), which incorporates high-performance Nickel-Metal Hydride cells (they are not included) alongside an integrated charging unit. For mechanical and hydraulic safety, the internal hydraulic circuit (driven with FAAC HP OIL across -15°C to +65°C) is compatible with an optional anti-panic manual release group to allow physical override during blackouts, as well as an anti-vandalism hydraulic bypass valve that protects pump seals and internal valves from mechanical stress if the boom arm is forced manually.
