System Compatibility and Integration Interfaces

The FAAC 844 C Z16 electro-mechanical sliding gate operator (KT ERP ref: KTI02006002844C) is engineered for integration into commercial, residential, and heavy industrial vehicle access perimeters. To ensure correct mechanical and electrical matching across automated vehicular entry systems, deployment engineers must adhere to specific mechanical drive parameters, electronic interface protocols, and physical leaf dimension thresholds.

Mechanical Drive & Rack Compatibility

The integrated drive output of the FAAC 844 C Z16 features a factory-fitted Z16 Module 4 pinion. This gear geometry interfaces directly with standard Module 4 pitch toothed racks. The operator accommodates both heavy-gauge steel racks (welded or bolted) and nylon racks with internal steel reinforcing cores, provided the Module 4 tooth profile is matched across the entire run. Mechanical alignment must account for a stopping space of 30 mm and ensure uninterrupted engagement along the leaf stroke without vertical binding on the pinion shaft.

Gate Leaf Physical Compatibility

The internal mechanical transmission, complete with an oil-bath drive and twin-disk mechanical clutch, is rated for specific structural gate thresholds:

  • Maximum Leaf Weight: Up to 1800 kg on tracked sliding or engineered cantilever gates.
  • Maximum Clear Opening / Leaf Width: Up to 40 meters continuous travel.
  • Drive Output: Generates up to 1300 N maximum thrust force at a linear speed of 9.6 m/min.
  • Limit Switches: Integrates with magnetic limit switch sensors and travel limit plates fixed directly along the Module 4 rack.

Control Board & Field Device Interfaces

The operator interfaces with FAAC dedicated electronic control boards (such as the E781 and 780D series). These microprocessor control units provide native integration across industry-standard peripheral and telemetry hardware:

  • BUS 2Easy Protocol: Two-wire polarity-free BUS interface for monitored photocells, safety sensors, and peripheral accessories.
  • Safety Edge Inputs: Dedicated terminals supporting normally closed (NC) mechanical safety edges or monitored 8.2 kΩ resistive conductive profiles complying with EN 12453 impact force standards.
  • Radio Decoders: Integrated quick-fit connector accommodating FAAC Omnidec radio receiver modules, including XF SLH and XF FDS wireless decoding boards for field transmitters.
  • System Automation: Directly compatible with FAAC Simply Connect communication platforms for remote diagnostics and telemetry management.

Electrical Supply Compatibility

The internal 230 W motor and its included 18 µF start-up capacitor operate strictly on a primary mains supply of 220–240 V AC at 50/60 Hz. The electrical circuit includes an internal self-resetting 120°C thermal protection cutout, allowing consistent duty cycles across operating environments ranging from -20°C to +65°C within its IP44 protected enclosure.
