Cabinet Foundation and Handing Configuration
The FAAC 620 Standard barrier features a load-bearing steel housing measuring 200 mm in length, 380 mm in width, and 1080 mm in height, with a total unit weight of 73 kg. Installers must mount the enclosure onto a level, reinforced concrete foundation capable of securing the barrier cabinet against operating vibration and wind loading. The barrier is manufactured in dedicated Left-Hand (LH) and Right-Hand (RH) configurations; verify roadway orientation and approach lanes prior to anchoring to ensure the cabinet access door and the internal kinematic train face inward toward the secure maintenance perimeter. The housing structure is protected against environmental exposure via cataphoresis anti-corrosion treatment and finished with RAL 2004 polyester powder paint.
Field Wiring and Electrical Cable Specifications
Route all field conduits into the base of the cabinet prior to final positioning. High-voltage mains supply lines and low-voltage command lines must be segregated into independent conduits to avoid electromagnetic interference. The electrical supply requires a single-phase 230 Vac (+6% -10%) 50/60 Hz feed protected upstream by appropriate circuit isolation.
| Circuit Function | Required Cable Specification | Connected Subsystem |
|---|
| Primary Mains Supply | 1 cable: 2 x 1.5 mm² + Earth | 230 Vac Mains Terminal on 624 BLD Board |
| Auxiliary Power Feed | 1 cable: 2 x 1.5 mm² | High-voltage auxiliary loads / signaling |
| Command & Safety Control | 3 cables: 3 x 0.5 mm² | Open, Close, Stop, Safety photocells / contacts |
| Signal & Status Loops | 1 cable: 2 x 0.5 mm² | Status outputs / indicator interfaces |
Mechanical Travel Stops and Deceleration Cam Adjustment
Internal mechanical travel stops inside the cabinet housing are independently adjustable to establish precise mechanical limits for both the fully open and fully closed horizontal beam orientations. Installers must set these physical stops to prevent mechanical over-travel of the internal equaliser and transmission shaft. Travel-limit deceleration angles must then be calibrated mechanically by adjusting the integrated cams situated on the drive assembly. These cams engage limit switching to signal the 624 BLD microprocessor unit to reduce rotational speed before the beam reaches end-of-travel stops, eliminating kinetic bounce and reducing mechanical shock on the die-cast distribution flange and mounting hardware.
Hydraulic Force Regulation and Compression Spring Balancing
The electro-hydraulic drive train integrates a single-phase, bi-directional electric motor running at 1,400 rpm coupled to a gerotor pump delivering 0.75 to 1 l/min flow rate, generating 0 to 200 Nm (or 0 to 150 Nm) effective torque. Operating forces are calibrated via separate hydraulic by-pass valves dedicated to opening and closing circuits. Technicians must adjust these by-pass valves independently to achieve the minimum force required to move the beam reliably while ensuring obstacle protection compliance.
Mechanical balancing must be tuned using the internal compression spring assembly. Adjust spring compression tension to achieve neutral equilibrium of the installed beam assembly (compatible with rectangular standard, rectangular with skirt, articulated rectangular up to 4 m, round, or round pivoting profiles up to 5 m). When balanced properly, the beam should hold position at approximately 45 degrees without continuous motor drive engagement. Check the fluid level inside the anodised aluminium oil reservoir; the system is factory-filled with FAAC HP mineral hydraulic oil containing dedicated additives.
Control Unit Terminations and Auxiliary Interfacing
The integrated 624 BLD control board requires 230 Vac mains power and absorbs 7 W, accommodating an overall maximum motor load of 300 W protected by internal fuses F1 (F 5A-250V) and F2 (T 0.8A-250V). Low-voltage terminal blocks provide a 24 Vdc power supply for external accessories up to a maximum load current of 500 mA. Make field terminations to the designated 624 BLD screw terminals according to the control scheme:
- Input Terminals: Loop 1, Loop 2, Open command, Close command, Closing safety devices, Stop circuit, Emergency circuit, and 230 Vac + Earth connection. Note that this specific configuration (KTI0200200FAAC5) is supplied without an inbuilt loop detector; external detectors interface directly via designated loop inputs or connector ports.
- Dedicated Connector Headers: Direct plug-in sockets for opening and closing limit-switches, inductive loop detectors, motor run capacitor, and rod detachment sensor. A 5-pin rapid coupling connector accepts Minidec boards, Decoders, or RP/RP2 series radio receivers.
- Output Terminals: FAACLIGHT flashing light, cooling fan feed, motor control outputs, 24 Vdc auxiliary power, fail-safe monitoring, status output, 24 Vdc indicator light, and digital BUS line.
Use the programming display on the 624 BLD controller to select one of the 11 integrated operating logics: Automatic, Automatic 1, Semiautomatic, Parking, Parkingautomatic, Condo, Condoautomatic, FAAC-CITY, Dead-man, Remote, or Custom. Adjust motor power across its 50 discrete digital levels, and set work time and pause time parameters between 0 and 4 minutes to suit facility access protocol.
External Manual Release Operation
During power loss or system commissioning, the internal hydraulic locking circuit on both opening and closing movements can be mechanically disengaged. Access the manual release mechanism positioned on the exterior of the steel cabinet. Insert the supplied triangular key (or optional customised lock key) into the external release socket and rotate to release hydraulic lock pressure, allowing the beam to be raised or lowered manually by hand.
