Foundation Plinth and Cabinet Anchoring
Correct civil preparation is required prior to securing the FAAC 620 Standard barrier. Cast a poured concrete foundation base calculated to withstand dynamic wind shear and mechanical torque generated during 4-meter beam operations. Route underground conduit through the center aperture of the foundation plinth for the primary 220-240V AC single-phase power feed, external loop cables, photocell signaling lines, and parking management system interfaces.
Position the anchoring foundation plate into the wet concrete, ensuring it is perfectly level. Once cured, seat the self-supporting cataphoresis-treated steel cabinet (finished in RAL 2004 orange polyester powder coating) onto the protruding foundation studs. Secure the cabinet using the anchor hardware, checking vertical and horizontal plumb using a spirit level to prevent uneven mechanical stresses on the transmission shaft.
Beam Assembly and Compression Spring Balancing
Mount the 4-meter aluminium beam (compatible with standard cylindrical or rectangular profiles, as well as optional accessories like beam bottom skirts or fork support rests) to the drive transmission hub. Ensure all fastening hardware on the bracket assembly is torqued securely before conducting mechanical balancing.
Mechanical spring calibration is critical for protecting the double-acting plunger pistons and hydraulic pump unit:
- Engage the external emergency manual release mechanism using the supplied triangular key to isolate the hydraulic locking system.
- Position the 4-meter boom manually to a 45-degree angle.
- Inspect the internal compression balancing spring. If the arm falls downward, the spring tension is deficient; if the arm rises toward the vertical position, the spring tension is excessive.
- Turn the mechanical spring adjuster nut to adjust preload until the 4-meter beam remains stationary and self-supported at roughly 45 degrees.
- Re-engage the hydraulic lock with the triangular key once balance calibration is verified across the full travel arc.
Electrical Connections and Peripheral Wiring
Supply single-phase 220-240V AC (50/60 Hz) power to the primary power input terminals of the internal 220 W asynchronous electric motor drive. Ensure cabinet earth grounding conforms to standard electrical safety codes. Because the cabinet holds an IP44 ingress protection rating, verify that all cable gland entries at the cabinet base are tightly sealed to prevent moisture or dust ingress.
Connect safety and traffic accessories directly to the integrated FAAC 624 BLD control board:
- Vehicle Induction Loops: Wire the pavement-embedded loop leads directly into the built-in dual-channel loop detector terminals on the control board.
- Safety Sensors: Wire FAAC FOTOSWITCH or XP series photocells using relay I/O contacts or BUS 2easy connection terminals.
- Signaling and Access: Connect external traffic signal lights, pushbuttons, or third-party parking ticketing systems via standard dry contact relay outputs.
624 BLD Programming and Commissioning
The integrated FAAC 624 BLD microprocessor unit features an onboard programming display and a three-key programming interface (+, -, and F buttons). Access the board's setup menu to define site-specific performance parameters:
- Select the appropriate operating logic from the 11 selectable operational modes, including Automatic (A), Semi-automatic (E), and dedicated Parking (P) configurations.
- Adjust opening and closing pause times to accommodate the operational speed rating of 3.5 to 4.5 seconds for the 4-meter beam assembly.
- Configure the patented electronic deceleration cams to deliver smooth dampening near the fully opened and fully closed physical limit stops, preventing mechanical bounce and extending hydraulic valve life.
- Check the FAAC HP hydraulic oil level via the internal reservoir dipstick to confirm fluid levels prior to putting the unit into active service.
