FAAC 620 Standard Barrier Hardware, Electrical, and Access Control Compatibility

The FAAC 620 Standard automatic barrier system (SKU: KTI02002001FAAC) is engineered with adaptable mechanical and electronic interfaces designed to integrate seamlessly into modern industrial, commercial, and parking access control architectures. Driven by the onboard FAAC 624 BLD microprocessor control unit, the operator provides robust physical compatibility with modular boom profiles as well as flexible communication connectivity with site safety sensors, vehicle presence loops, and third-party credential management systems.

Boom Arm Profiles and Mechanical Hardware Compatibility

Configured for a 4-meter span, the mechanical drive hub of the FAAC 620 Standard interfaces with distinct aluminium arm geometries to match environmental aerodynamic requirements:

  • Rectangular Aluminium Beams: Fully compatible with 4-meter rectangular aluminium arms suited for general perimeter checkpoints and standard vehicle lane containment.
  • Cylindrical Aluminium Beams: Compatible with 4-meter cylindrical (round) profile aluminium beams designed to minimise aerodynamic drag in high-wind installations.
  • Under-Beam Skirt Kits: Mechanically supports the attachment of beam bottom skirts to prevent pedestrians and animals from ducking under the barrier arm.
  • Fork Support Rests: Interfaces with fixed mechanical fork supports to stabilise the free tip of the 4-meter beam in the fully closed horizontal position, reducing mechanical cantilever stress on the transmission shaft.
  • Compression Spring Balancing: Mechanical counterbalance is maintained via an internal heavy-duty compression spring. When fitting optional accessories such as skirts, the spring adjuster nut must be recalibrated to maintain neutral equilibrium across the 4m travel arc.

Control Board Interfacing and Access Control Systems

At the core of the barrier cabinet is the factory-integrated FAAC 624 BLD microprocessor controller, programmed via a 3-key (+, -, F) digital display interface. The controller supports seamless integration with various site automation architectures:

  • Operating Logics: Features 11 selectable operational modes, including Automatic (A), Semi-automatic (E), and dedicated Parking (P) logics, accommodating diverse lane configurations and sequencing needs.
  • Third-Party Access Systems: Interfaces via standard dry contact relay I/O with commercial parking management systems, RFID vehicle identification readers, barcode and magnetic ticketing terminals, push buttons, and remote guardhouse consoles.
  • BUS 2easy Connectivity: Incorporates FAAC BUS 2easy two-wire connection protocol for rapid bidirectional interfacing with peripheral devices and diagnostic modules.
  • Traffic Control Signalling: Provides dedicated relay outputs to trigger external traffic signal lights and status indicators, coordinating vehicle right-of-way based on barrier open/closed status.

Vehicle Detection and Perimeter Safety Sensors

Vehicle presence sensing and anti-crushing safety are natively handled through dedicated electronic interfaces on the 624 BLD unit:

  • Integrated Dual-Channel Loop Detector: Contains an onboard, two-channel inductive vehicle loop detector for direct connection to underground induction loops, enabling automatic opening and safety closing interlocks without separate external detector modules.
  • External Loop Detectors: Compatible via hardwired inputs with auxiliary external vehicle induction loops for extended lane sequencing or queue management.
  • Safety Photocells: Fully compatible with FAAC FOTOSWITCH and XP series infrared safety photocells, enabling real-time optical beam interruption to prevent barrier descent onto transiting vehicles.
  • Electronic Deceleration: Patented electronic deceleration profiles programmatically cushion the final opening and closing travel phases, protecting mounted hardware and attached accessories from dynamic shock.

Electrical and Environmental Operating Conditions

The FAAC 620 Standard operates on standard single-phase mains power, consuming 220 W through an asynchronous motor paired with a dedicated hydraulic pump unit utilising FAAC HP oil. Enclosed in a cataphoresis-treated steel cabinet finished in RAL 2004 orange polyester powder coating, the assembly carries an IP44 ingress protection rating and maintains functional operation within ambient environments ranging from -20°C to +55°C, ensuring reliable hardware interoperability in harsh industrial perimeter conditions.
