Power Delivery and System Boot Diagnostics
The eSSL AiFace-Jupiter operates via an external 12V DC, 3A power connection. Because this specific SKU is configured without an internal battery (they are not included), any voltage sag, transient line drop, or undersized power adapter will result in immediate device shutdown, display flicker, or continuous reboot cycles during Linux OS boot. When deploying peripheral access hardware such as heavy-duty electric locks, transient voltage spikes or excessive current draw can pull power below operational thresholds. Measure input voltage across the power terminals under peak load; ensure the line maintains a steady 12V DC at 3A. Do not tap power directly from high-draw third-party electric locks without proper circuit isolation.
Optical Recognition and Anti-Spoofing Faults
The unit features a 2MP WDR low-light camera and runs the Face V5.8 biometric algorithm to achieve verification times of 1 second or less (≤1s). If users experience repeated verification rejections or extended identification latency, evaluate optical and ambient parameters:
- Supplementary Illumination Settings: If verification is slow in dark or unlit corridors, access the 5-inch touch screen system menu to increase the output of the integrated adjustable brightness supplementary LEDs.
- Lighting Contrast and Glare: While the 2MP WDR sensor handles wide variations in dynamic range, harsh backlighting or direct sun striking the camera lens can degrade facial landmark calculation. Reorient the terminal if high-intensity lighting washes out facial contour capture.
- Anti-Spoofing Algorithm Activation: The internal anti-spoofing engine actively analyzes presentations to intercept spoof attempts made with color photos, laser prints, black-and-white images, video clips, and 3D mask attacks. If a valid user is consistently rejected, ensure their enrollment template was captured without aggressive head angles, heavy facial obstruction, or motion blur. Re-enrolling the profile under standard site lighting resolves false rejections.
Access Control Interfaces and Physical Tamper Alarms
The terminal provides dedicated terminals for third-party electric locks, door sensors, exit buttons, alarm outputs, and auxiliary inputs:
- Tamper Switch Alarm Triggering: AiFace-Jupiter incorporates an integrated rear mechanical tamper switch alarm to detect physical detachment or housing tampering. If the device sounds an uninterrupted audible alarm tone upon installation or startup, verify that the terminal is seated completely flush against the mounting plate. Wall irregularities can prevent the rear tamper lever from fully depressing.
- Electric Lock Relay Inaction: If the relay fails to release an attached lock upon successful biometric verification, confirm terminal assignment (Normally Open vs. Normally Closed) relative to lock hardware (fail-secure vs. fail-safe). Inspect auxiliary input and door sensor connections; an open door sensor logic circuit or miswired request-to-exit switch can disrupt expected relay timing.
Communication and eTimeTrackLite Synchronization
The device connects across local networks using onboard TCP/IP Ethernet and RS485 communication, as well as Wiegand input and output ports:
- Network Timeout Errors: If the terminal fails to ping across local infrastructure, verify IP address, subnet mask, and gateway settings via the 5-inch touch screen interface. Confirm that standard TCP network ports are unblocked on the local network switch.
- ADMS Cloud Push Failures: When operating cloud synchronization to eTimeTrackLite software, confirm the ADMS server IP address, listening port, and enabled status in the network parameters. Firewalls blocking outbound traffic to the central server will halt log push operations.
- Record Capacity Overflow: The system stores up to 200,000 transaction records, 6,000 face templates (expandable to 10,000), 6,000 fingerprint templates (expandable to 10,000), and 10,000 RFID cards (125 kHz EM standard or 13.56 MHz Mifare IC optional). If the 200,000-transaction memory buffer fills completely, the terminal cannot record new attendance punches until data is synchronized and cleared via eTimeTrackLite.
Environmental Threshold Verification
AiFace-Jupiter is rated for operation within ambient temperatures ranging from -10°C to 45°C (14°F to 113°F) and relative humidity levels between 10% and 90%. Operating the terminal outside these parameters can lead to optical condensation inside the 2MP camera aperture, degraded touch performance across the 5-inch touch screen, or CPU thermal throttling on the 900MHz Dual Core processor.
