eSSL AiFace-Jupiter Installation, Wiring, and Site Deployment Guide

Proper installation of the eSSL AiFace-Jupiter biometric terminal ensures rapid visible light facial recognition, reliable multi-modal access verification, and stable operation across industrial and commercial facilities. The terminal has an ultra-compact chassis profile measuring 134.93 mm in width, 166.93 mm in height, and 21.5 mm in depth. Site engineers must evaluate physical mounting height, electrical parameters, communication lines, and peripheral lock connections prior to deploying the hardware.

Physical Mounting and Environmental Parameters

The terminal is designed for surface-mount installation on flat vertical walls or turnstile brackets. For optimal biometric alignment with the integrated 2MP WDR low-light camera and convenient operation via the 5-inch touch screen, mount the terminal at standard face level to accommodate standing personnel. The physical enclosure integrates a built-in tamper switch alarm mechanism. During physical mounting, ensure the chassis backplate is mounted securely and flush against the mounting surface so that the tamper trigger remains fully engaged; any physical displacement or unauthorized enclosure detachment will immediately activate the tamper alarm output.

Installers must ensure ambient site conditions remain within the certified operating limits: an operating temperature range of -10°C to 45°C (14°F to 113°F) and an operating relative humidity between 10% and 90% (non-condensing).

Power Supply Requirements

The eSSL AiFace-Jupiter requires a dedicated external direct-current power supply providing 12V DC at 3A. Please note that this specific hardware configuration is supplied without an internal backup battery (they are not included). For sites requiring uninterruptible access during power grid outages, an external 12V DC battery backup power supply unit (they are not included) should be specified and wired inline.

Power cabling runs should utilize appropriately sized gauge conductors to prevent voltage drop between the 12V 3A DC power source and the terminal terminals. Power cabling must be routed away from high-voltage AC lines to prevent electromagnetic interference with onboard biometric compute modules and touch screen responsiveness.

Access Control Terminal and Peripheral Wiring

The terminal backplane includes dedicated access control interface connections designed to integrate directly with peripheral door entry hardware:

  • 3rd-Party Electric Lock: Relays directly interface with external electric strikes, magnetic locks, or electromechanical drop bolts.
  • Door Sensor Input: Connects to magnetic door contacts to monitor real-time door open/closed status.
  • Exit Button: Terminal inputs accept standard push-to-exit buttons for manual egress.
  • Alarm Output: Provides dedicated dry contacts to drive external signaling devices or security systems during tamper or forced-door events.
  • Auxiliary Input: Connects external trigger linkages such as smoke sensors or emergency override circuits.

Communication and Network Deployment

The AiFace-Jupiter provides multiple communication channels for standalone or enterprise network architecture. Network connectivity is established primarily via standard TCP/IP Ethernet for data synchronization with eTimeTrackLite software and central management platforms. It also supports ADMS (Automatic Data Master Server) cloud push communications for real-time central server log transmission. For controller-based installations, the terminal features RS485 communication, as well as integrated Wiegand input and Wiegand output ports to interface with third-party external RFID card readers or legacy access controllers.
