Facial Recognition and Optical Sensor Faults
The eSSL AiFace-Arion utilizes a 2-megapixel Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) low-light camera calibrated for high-precision 1:N biometric matching. If verification delays exceed the standard 1-second threshold or if users experience repeat rejections, evaluate positioning depth. The operational touchless facial recognition distance is rated strictly between 1 cm and 100 cm. Positioning outside this focal corridor prevents the algorithm from capturing feature points.
Accumulation of dust, airborne grease, or smudges on the 5-inch display and dual-camera array introduces optical distortion under challenging backlighting. Clean the optical camera window and screen surface periodically using a soft, non-abrasive microfibre cloth. In addition, verify that the active database has not surpassed the hardware limit of 6,000 face templates.
Fingerprint, Card, and Barcode Verification Diagnostics
For fingerprint reading anomalies where match speeds drop below the normal 0.3-second rating:
- Confirm the optical surface is clear of foreign residue or heavy oil deposits.
- Ensure the system database does not exceed the 6,000 fingerprint template capacity (1:N mode).
- Re-enroll individuals showing frequent False Rejection Rates (FRR), verifying central pad placement.
When RFID credentials fail to scan, identify the exact card standard in use. The hardware platform supports 125 kHz Proximity ID cards, optional 13.56 MHz Mifare IC cards, as well as HID Prox and HID iClass credentials. Presenting an incompatible frequency or incompatible credential type will fail to trigger the internal reader. Also ensure that the total registered credentials do not breach the 10,000 card capacity. For optical scanning, confirm that 2D barcodes match supported decoding formats: QR code, PDF417, Data Matrix, or MicroPDF417.
Power Supply and Access Control Interface Behavior
The terminal demands a stable DC 12V, 3A external power input. Sub-optimal power lines or undersized power supplies cause device reboots, camera flickering, or communication dropout when inductive loads actuate:
- Unintended Restarts: Connecting high-draw electromagnetic locks or electric strike/drop bolt locks directly to the same unisolated DC 12V supply line can trigger instantaneous voltage dips below operating thresholds. Isolate lock power or install an appropriate power controller.
- Relay and Trigger Issues: Inspect terminals for the exit request button, door sensor, and alarm output. Incorrect wiring between Normally Closed (NC) and Normally Open (NO) contacts will invert door lock state or generate continuous false door-held-open alarms.
- Wiegand Communication: Check Wiegand Input and Wiegand Output signal cabling when interfacing secondary slave readers or master access control panels. Ensure ground referencing is unified across panels to prevent data packet corruption.
Network Synchronization and Memory Capacity
If the device drops off enterprise networks, check both physical Ethernet TCP/IP cabling and Wi-Fi configuration parameters. Ensure the assigned static IP, subnet mask, and gateway match the local network topology. For serial architectures, inspect RS485 bus termination and polarity (+ / -). If attendance events stop recording, check internal storage limits against the 200,000 transaction event log capacity. Synchronize and purge processed logs using eSSL centralized software suites, such as eTimetracklite or ebioServer.
Environmental Parameters
AiFace-Arion operates within ambient temperatures ranging from -10°C to 45°C with a non-condensing relative humidity between 10% and 90%. Rapid environmental transitions that create internal condensation will lead to temporary recognition failure or sensor offline states until the terminal is stabilized.
