Installation and Wiring Guidelines for eSSL AiFace-Arion

Proper deployment of the eSSL AiFace-Arion biometric terminal requires precise physical positioning, regulated low-voltage power distribution, and structured signal cabling. Designed for multi-factor workforce attendance and door security, the hardware integrates high-speed biometric capture with multi-interface access control peripherals.

Physical Dimensions and Mounting Positioning

The AiFace-Arion terminal has a profile measuring 91.93 mm in length, 202.93 mm in width/height, and 21.5 mm in depth. When selecting the installation location on walls, mullions, or turnstile brackets, consider the optical alignment required by the 2-megapixel Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) low-light camera and the 5-inch display.

For optimal touchless facial recognition, the unit operates across a subject distance of 1 cm to 100 cm. Mounting heights must position the dual-lens camera assembly to capture incoming users comfortably within this 100 cm capture envelope, accommodating varying user heights without causing facial positioning outside the active optical focal path.

Electrical Power Requirements

The terminal functions on a dedicated external direct-current power supply rated at DC 12V and 3A. Ensure the following criteria are met during electrical hookup:

  • Voltage and Current Rating: A regulated DC 12V, 3A power source must be provided to sustain concurrent operation of the 1.0 GHz dual-core processor, optical sensors, display, and peripheral relays.
  • Dedicated Access Power: If powering electromagnetic locks or electric strikes through the terminal’s integrated circuit, verify that line-drop losses over extended cable lengths do not drop voltage below operational thresholds.
  • Isolation: Keep high-voltage AC mains lines physically segregated from the DC 12V power cabling to prevent electromagnetic noise induction.

Access Control Peripheral Interface Wiring

The AiFace-Arion terminal features integrated connection blocks designed to interface directly with door hardware, monitoring sensors, and secondary readers:

  • Lock Control Interface: Equipped with dedicated switching terminals compatible with both electromagnetic locks and electric locks (such as electric strikes or drop bolts).
  • Door Status Monitoring: Includes dedicated inputs for a door position sensor to report door open/ajar conditions and security breaches.
  • Egress Controls: Dedicated exit button inputs facilitate connection to standard request-to-exit (RTE) switches for manual egress release.
  • Alarm Relay Output: Terminal outputs support integration with external audible or visual alarm circuits to indicate forced entry or tamper events.
  • Wiegand Communication: Supports both Wiegand Input and Wiegand Output, allowing the AiFace-Arion to function as an independent controller linked to slave card readers, or to act as a peripheral credential reader communicating with third-party access control panels.

Network Connectivity and Software Deployment

Data transmission, credential database synchronization, and transaction log management operate over multiple selectable communication protocols:

  • Ethernet (TCP/IP): Connect via standard RJ45 structured cabling into your enterprise Local Area Network (LAN) for steady transmission to centralized servers.
  • Wireless Wi-Fi: Integrated Wi-Fi allows network connectivity in facilities where running physical network cables is impractical.
  • Serial Communication (RS485): RS485 communication lines are supported for industrial serial networking and secondary peripheral interfacing.
  • Management Software Integration: Configure the terminal's IP and communication parameters to synchronize with eSSL centralized management platforms, specifically eTimetracklite and ebioServer, to administer facial records (up to 6,000 templates), fingerprint data (up to 6,000 templates), RFID cards (up to 10,000 cards), and audit log retrieval (up to 200,000 logs).

Environmental and Operating Constraints

To ensure system longevity and prevent false rejections, install the AiFace-Arion strictly within specified environmental tolerances:

  • Operating Temperature: Maintain installation environment between -10°C and 45°C.
  • Operating Humidity: Ensure relative humidity remains between 10% and 90% RH (non-condensing).
  • Environmental Directives: The device meets RoHS and ISO quality standards. While equipped with a WDR low-light camera capable of handling complex light variation, protect the optical aperture from continuous direct water ingress or abrasive particulate environments.
