Ahuja CCS-2300 Two-Way Counter Communication System Troubleshooting Guide

The Ahuja CCS-2300 two-way counter communication system relies on a modular architecture comprising the tabletop attendant console, external customer speaker/microphone unit, and dedicated power supply unit. When encountering operational issues across counter glass or security barriers, refer to the diagnostic procedures below to resolve audio transmission, power, and configuration faults.

1. Complete Power Failure or System Inoperability

If neither the attendant station nor the customer station powers on or passes audio signals:

  • Verify AC Power Line: Confirm that the main power source delivers the required 220V to 240V AC at 50/60Hz to the power supply unit (W85 × H58 × D (they are not included)150 mm).
  • Inspect AC Fuse: The system power circuit is protected by an integrated 1 × 0.5A AC fuse. Disconnect the unit from AC mains and check the fuse element for continuity. Replace only with a rated 0.5A AC fuse if blown.
  • Check Interconnect Cabling: Verify that the dedicated factory-supplied system cables running between the power supply module and the attendant unit console are firmly seated in their dedicated connection ports.

2. Customer Microphone Inactive or Cutting Out (Auto-Mute & Voice Priority)

If customer speech is intermittent or appears blocked from reaching the attendant unit speaker:

  • Voice Priority Override: The CCS-2300 system is engineered with inherent attendant voice priority. When the attendant speaks into the 20-inch gooseneck microphone (or connected 3.5mm headset), the customer microphone channel is suppressed. Ensure the attendant pauses speech to allow customer audio transmission.
  • Auto-Mute Functionality: The system features an Auto-Mute toggle switch. When Auto-Mute is toggled ON, the customer electret condenser microphone automatically and partially mutes after approximately 30 seconds of inactivity to eliminate ambient lobby noise. Normal speech volume at the customer unit (Ø98 × D (they are not included)52 mm) reactivates transmission. Toggle the Auto-Mute switch OFF if continuous open-channel listening is required.
  • Listen Volume Adjustment: Check the dedicated 'Listen' mode control on the attendant console to verify that the incoming customer channel volume is not set to minimum.

3. Attendant Audio Transmission Faults (Talk Mode)

If customer-side listeners cannot hear the attendant through the customer station speaker:

  • Talk Level Controls: Adjust the dedicated 'Talk' level control dial on the attendant console to ensure adequate amplification up to the maximum 2W output limit per channel.
  • Microphone Input Source: The attendant station uses an integrated 20-inch gooseneck electret condenser microphone, but also includes a 3.5mm jack socket for optional external headband microphones (such as the Ahuja HBM-50). If a 3.5mm headband microphone is plugged in, verify the jack is fully inserted or unplug it to revert to the primary gooseneck microphone.
  • Microphone Positioning: Ensure the attendant speaks directly toward the electret condenser cartridge on the gooseneck without physical obstruction.

4. High Background Noise or Acoustic Distortion

If excessive noise, distortion, or feedback occurs during counter operation:

  • Engage Auto-Mute: Enable the Auto-Mute toggle switch on the attendant console to suppress external ambient noise from high-traffic environments when no customer is actively speaking at the counter.
  • Gain Balancing: If audio clips or distorts, lower the independent Talk and Listen level controls below the maximum 2W output threshold to balance gain between both electret condenser channels.
  • Cable and Mounting Verification: Ensure dedicated interconnect cables are routed away from high-voltage AC lines. Confirm that the customer unit is securely affixed to the partition, stone slab, or glass barrier using proper mounting tape or bracket hardware to prevent mechanical vibration.
