System Architecture and Modular Component Overview

The Ahuja CCS-2300 two-way counter communication system is engineered for deployment across security glass partitions, acrylic teller barriers, and transparent counter windows in high-throughput institutional and commercial environments. The complete system comprises three modular hardware units designed to interface seamlessly: a tabletop attendant console, a compact customer-side unit, and a centralized AC power supply unit.

Proper counter layout planning ensures optimal acoustic isolation and ergonomic operation across banking windows, ticket counters, hospital reception desks, and visa service stations. Each hardware module features dedicated physical specifications that dictate counter space allocation and mounting placement during deployment.

Counter Partition and Physical Mounting Guidelines

Physical integration of the customer and attendant stations requires strategic counter positioning to maintain clean acoustic pick-up and clear speaker projection across physical barriers:

  • Customer Unit Mounting: The customer station measures Ø98 mm in diameter with a depth of D52 mm and weighs 0.55 kg. It is engineered for surface mounting on stone slabs, partition frames, or glass teller barriers using mounting tape or bracket hardware. The integrated electret condenser microphone and speaker housing should be positioned at customer mouth level to ensure natural speech pickup.
  • Attendant Console Placement: The attendant station measures W116 × H65 × D170 mm (chassis dimensions without gooseneck) and weighs 1.30 kg. Designed as a rugged tabletop console, it features an integrated 20-inch (20”) flexible gooseneck microphone with an electret condenser capsule, providing strain-free positioning for counter operators during extended work shifts.
  • Power Supply Unit Placement: The dedicated power unit measures W85 × H58 × D150 mm and weighs 0.93 kg. It should be securely mounted inside the counter understructure or electrical raceway adjacent to standard mains power access.

Dedicated Cabling and Electrical Connections

Interconnection across the three system components is executed using the dedicated factory-supplied system cabling. The power supply module acts as the central interface hub, routing signal pathways and regulated operational power between the attendant station and the external customer module.

Mains electrical connection requires an AC supply rated at 220V to 240V at 50/60Hz. The internal power circuitry is safeguarded against line disturbances through an integrated AC fuse rated at 1 × 0.5A. Integrators must ensure proper strain relief on all system cables routed through counter partition knockouts or conduit channels to prevent cable pinching.

Audio Calibration, Auto-Mute, and Operating Modes

Once physical mounting and cable routing are completed, commissioning involves balancing audio channels to match ambient room acoustics on both sides of the barrier:

  • Speech Level Calibration: The attendant console provides independent potentiometers to separately adjust the speech levels during Talk mode and Listen mode, delivering up to 2W (Max.) output per amplifier channel.
  • Voice Priority Operation: The attendant microphone channel features automatic voice priority over the customer microphone channel, allowing counter personnel to maintain clear transaction control.
  • Auto-Mute Feature Configuration: To suppress external lobby noise when a counter window is idle, activate the Auto-Mute toggle switch. In Auto-Mute ON condition, the customer microphone automatically mutes partially if unused for approximately 30 seconds, restoring full sensitivity as soon as speech resumes.
  • Headband Microphone Integration: For operators requiring hands-free mobility, a built-in 3.5mm jack socket on the attendant console allows connection of an optional external headband microphone (such as the Ahuja HBM-50) as an alternative to the fixed gooseneck microphone.
