Biomax SA42 Deployment Scenarios and Application Architecture

The Biomax SA42 standalone access control terminal provides flexible, compact credential verification and physical barrier switching for commercial facilities, residential complexes, and public infrastructure. Operating on DC 12V (±10%) with an idle standby current of 30 mA or less, the terminal combines an integrated 125 kHz Proximity EM card reader, an illuminated touch keypad, and an onboard switching relay rated up to 1 A. These integrated capabilities support both autonomous edge deployments without server infrastructure and integrated slave-reader operation in centralized security topologies.

Autonomous Single-Door Access for Commercial and Office Facilities

In standard corporate offices, storage rooms, server closets, and administrative suites, the Biomax SA42 serves as a completely self-contained entry point controller. Managing up to 2,000 total cards and PIN passwords locally, system administrators can configure authorized access directly through the touch keypad using the master programming code (default 888888) without requiring networked software or external host controllers.

The terminal's onboard relay includes Normally Open (NO, Blue wire), Normally Closed (NC, Orange wire), and Common (COM, Purple wire) outputs to actuate standard commercial hardware:

  • Electromagnetic Locks (Fail-Safe): Connected across NC and COM terminals for positive holding power up to 1 A load, releasing immediately upon valid card read or PIN entry.
  • Electric Strikes (Fail-Secure): Connected across NO and COM terminals up to 1 A load, pulsing power only when an authorized credential is confirmed.
  • Egress Controls: The dedicated Yellow wire provides direct OPEN input for standard momentary push-to-exit hardware on the secure side of the threshold.
  • Visitor Notification: Integrated Pink wiring leads (BELL_A and BELL_B) offer dry contact closure to trigger external commercial doorbells.

Residential Communities and Public Facility Entrances

For gated housing communities, multi-tenant residential entry lobbies, and public utility offices, the Biomax SA42 delivers reliable 24/7 entry validation. The integrated backlight touch keypad ensures accurate numerical PIN entry during nighttime operation and low-light ambient conditions. With a reading range of 2 to 5 cm and a card verification speed of less than 0.1 seconds, the reader prevents entry bottlenecks during peak foot-traffic periods.

Credential administration in multi-tenant environments is streamlined through individual user indexing. Facility supervisors can delete lost or damaged cards directly via keypad numeric slot ID without wiping the remaining card database. The programmable door opening delay (configurable from 0 to 99 seconds, default 5 seconds) allows property operators to tailor release intervals to ADA requirements or specific pedestrian traffic velocities.

Centralized Security Systems and Wiegand Reader Integration

Beyond standalone operation, the Biomax SA42 functions as an external slave proximity reader or integrates with secondary verification terminals via standard Wiegand 26-bit (WG26) and Wiegand 34-bit (WG34) protocols using Green (D0) and White (D1) data leads:

  • External Reader for IN/OUT Tracking: The SA42 accepts Wiegand input from an external slave reader installed on the opposite side of the doorway, managing dual-direction access control from a single internal microprocessor.
  • Sub-Reader for Multi-Door Panels: The terminal can transmit raw 125 kHz EM card numbers directly to enterprise third-party access control panels, serving as a slimline 15 mm profile wall-mounted credential interface.

Demanding Electrical and Semi-Industrial Environments

Engineered with an anti-interference shielded microprocessor and rapid short-circuit protection responding within 100 µs, the SA42 maintains stable operation in environments subject to electromagnetic noise and line fluctuations. Operating across temperatures from -10 °C to 60 °C and humidity levels between 10% and 90% non-condensing, it is well suited for perimeter gatehouses, warehouse dispatch offices, and light manufacturing entry vestibules, with an auxiliary alarm output load capacity of up to 2 A for local security alert signaling.
