Biomax N-G4W Terminal Installation and Wiring Integration

Proper deployment of the Biomax N-G4W multi-biometric access control and time attendance terminal ensures reliable high-speed user verification and secure physical door management. The unit features a rigid industrial enclosure measuring 192 mm in length, 146 mm in height, and 95 mm in width, with an overall weight of approximately 0.9 kg, engineered specifically to withstand heavy industrial environments.

Mechanical Mounting and Environmental Placement

The N-G4W is designed for wall or flat-surface mounting at entry and exit checkpoints. When positioning the unit, verify that the site stays within the rated operating temperature range of 0°C to 50°C. Due to the wide-angle facial identification system and integrated optical sensor, direct specialized studio lighting is not necessary during scans, allowing for straightforward positioning across factory floors, security booths, and commercial entryways.

Power Supply Requirements

The terminal requires a stable, regulated external power input of 12V DC at 2A:

  • Connect the 12V DC (+) and Ground (-) lines from a dedicated access control power supply to the terminal's power input interface.
  • Maintain proper wire gauge over distance to prevent voltage drop below the required operating threshold.
  • If the system is provisioned with an auxiliary battery backup (they are not included), ensure compatible terminal wiring according to industrial low-voltage guidelines.

Access Control and Lock Relay Wiring

The Biomax N-G4W includes built-in access control interfaces designed to drive electromechanical locking hardware and integrate with facility peripherals:

  • Dual Relay Outputs: The unit provides 2 output relays dedicated for door open operations. These relay channels can be wired directly to control magnetic locks, drop bolts, electromechanical door strikes, or interface with automated barrier gates and turnstiles.
  • Wiegand In and Out: Integrated Wiegand input and output ports support interconnection with secondary external readers, upstream controllers, or centralized building management panels.
  • Exit Peripherals: Dedicated terminal connections support external exit devices, including the Biomax N-FR12 slave reader, standard third-party Wiegand readers, handheld remote triggers, standard push buttons, and no-touch exit sensors.

Network Setup and System Commissioning

The Biomax N-G4W supports versatile communication modes to suit diverse infrastructure architectures:

  • Wired and Wireless LAN: Connect the terminal to the local area network via standard TCP/IP Ethernet cabling or connect using the integrated Wi-Fi module.
  • Serial and Direct Interfaces: On-board RS232 and RS485 communication connections, along with USB host/slave ports, allow local data retrieval, direct device diagnostics, and firmware maintenance.
  • Cellular Uplink: Where structured cabling or Wi-Fi is unavailable, the system can utilize the optional 4G GPRS communication module.
  • Push Data Protocol: Once connected to the network, enable Push Data mode to stream live verification transactions (from the 200,000 log buffer) directly to centralized Biomax Desktop, Web, or Cloud management platforms.

Final commissioning, including static IP assignment or Wi-Fi SSID pairing, can be completed directly at the terminal using the 4.3-inch color touch screen (480 x 272 resolution) with audible operational prompts supported by 16-bit Hi-Fi English voice instruction.
