Trailer Deployment, Mast Hoisting, and Electrical Setup

Trailer Positioning and Mechanical Leveling

The Ador SERENITi mobile radar speed violation and Variable Message Sign (VMS) system is built on a heavy-duty, steel-fabricated chassis measuring 1500 mm in width by 2600 mm in length. Site mobilization requires towing the unit to the target traffic monitoring station using the integrated tow bar. For transit and placement, the unit includes a foldable, collapsible, height-adjustable jockey wheel that aids in positioning the hitch and navigating localized roadway curbs or work-zone shoulders.

Once situated along the highway verge, median, or plant roadway, the trailer must be stabilized before elevation. The chassis incorporates a four-point height-adjustable jack leveling arrangement. Technicians must deploy all four screw-jack outriggers independently to level the chassis on uneven surfaces, relieving static strain from the road tires and securing the base against wind loads. Ensure that the amber and red tail reflector cum lights and side lights remain unobstructed for site transit visibility and roadside compliance.

Display Hoisting and Radar Alignment

After mechanical stabilization, the dual-display structure is deployed using the integrated hoisting arrangement:

  • Hoisting Mechanism: Actuate the motorized mast or hydraulic jacking arrangement to elevate the display assembly from its transport cradle to operational height.
  • Height Adjustment Span: The hoisting mechanism provides a continuous height adjustment range from 2.2 meters up to 3.0 meters, measured from the ground plane directly to the top edge of the display assembly.
  • Rotational Alignment: The display head is equipped with a 330° rotation mechanism featuring a heavy-duty locking arrangement. Swivel the display face to achieve a direct line-of-sight toward oncoming traffic lanes to optimize the 45° horizontal and 45° vertical viewing angles of the VMS screen.
  • Doppler Radar Aiming: The internal 24GHz K-Band / ISM-Band dual-direction Doppler radar operates with a 250-meter detection field. Lock the 330° rotational clamp firmly once the radar face is square to the monitored travel lanes to ensure detection accuracy within ±2 km/h across the 5 to 199 km/h speed threshold.

Solar Superstructure and Display Cabinets

The solar panel assembly mounts directly onto the trailer superstructure positioned directly above the upper edge of the display enclosure. This overhead mounting ensures continuous sunlight collection without shadowing the 1280 x 960 mm VMS matrix or the 29 x 29 x 10 inch SERENITi radar speed housing. The speed display is housed in an IP65-rated, anti-UV, through-dyed grey ABS resin one-piece moulded enclosure weighing 26 kg without batteries (they are not included), while the VMS enclosure consists of an M.S. CRCA (cold-rolled close-annealed) steel cabinet providing IP65 protection at the front face and IP54 protection at the rear maintenance access doors.

Electrical Integration and Power Commissioning

Internal power routing and power management modules are housed in an IP55-rated M.S. CRCA junction box mounted directly on the steel chassis. Field electrical connections must be installed in accordance with the following power architecture:

  • Circuit Protection: An integrated miniature circuit breaker (MCB) protects internal low-voltage electronics, the VMS driver boards, and the asynchronous controller from power spikes.
  • Power Supply Feeds: The system is designed to run from a 24VDC bus supplied by batteries (they are not included), with operational compatibility for 230V AC grid power or the overhead solar array. Average power consumption of the speed sign is under 150W, while the VMS draws an average of 200 W/m² (up to 800 W/m² maximum).
  • Battery Enclosure: The chassis compartment provides dedicated physical capacity to secure up to two batteries (they are not included). Field installers must terminate battery (they are not included) leads to the solar charge regulator and industrial battery charger switchgear integrated within the junction box.

Data Communications and System Connectivity

Establish network communication to commission speed thresholds, display messages, and diagnostic telemetry. Signal transfer between the asynchronous controller and field configuration devices is handled via standard TCP/IP over an RJ45 port or through a local Mini B-type USB port. For multi-site connectivity with the SERENITi Cloud App or local SERENITi Web App, hardwired local area network (LAN) cabling or optional GSM cellular hardware can be connected directly within the junction box terminal bay. Note that active LAN infrastructure and mobile SIM cards are not in Ador's scope of supply and must be provided by the system integrator.
