Structural Mounting and Hardware Interfaces
The Ador Indus Vehicle Activated Speed Sign (VASS) (KT SKU: KTI04015002SINDSS) is engineered for heavy-duty roadside deployment across municipal roads, highway networks, industrial facilities, work zones, and educational campuses. The physical enclosure is constructed from an anti-UV, one-piece injection moulded ABS resin body measuring 29 inches High by 29 inches Wide by 10 inches Deep (29"H x 29"W x 10"D) and finished in through-dyed grey. The static hardware weight is 26 kg without batteries (they are not included).
The unit comes supplied with specialized pole mounting brackets. Mechanical installation is also versatile, supporting direct integration onto stationary poles, overhead gantries, mobile trailers, or dollies. Note that the mounting pole, footing, and pole-fixing structural work remain strictly within the client scope of work. Rigging and installation teams must verify that client-supplied vertical support poles or gantries are rated to support the 26 kg static mass along with outdoor wind load dynamics in compliance with local road infrastructure engineering standards.
Radar Orientation and Siting Geometry
Correct positioning of the Ador Indus unit is required to optimize the internal dual-direction Doppler radar operating across the 24GHz ISM Band / K-Band. The internal sensor system features a vehicle detection range reaching up to 250 meters and tracks traffic speeds spanning 5 km/h to 199 km/h with 99% accuracy (±2 km/h). Installers must position the front face of the sign directly perpendicular to oncoming vehicular travel lanes to minimize angular radar cosine error.
The sign displays speed using 16-inch 7-segment tricolor (Amber, Green, and Red) LED digits complemented by a 1.37-inch customizable 'YOUR SPEED' message legend, yielding a visual legibility distance of 300+ meters. When siting the assembly, maintain an unobstructed line-of-sight between the sign face and the approaching roadway corridor, clearing tree branches, utility poles, and roadside signage across the entire 250-meter radar coverage envelope.
Electrical Infrastructure and Power Wiring
The Ador Indus sign supports multiple electrical input configurations depending on available roadside utility infrastructure. The internal power architecture operates at an average power consumption of less than 150W. For permanent grid installations, supply wiring connects directly to a 230V AC city lighting or mains circuit. For autonomous off-grid installations, the sign interfaces with an external solar panel managed via an internal solar regulator.
The enclosure incorporates an internal battery (they are not included) enclosure with the physical capacity to house up to 2 batteries (they are not included). This internal compartment is dimensioned to accept 12V/18AH batteries (they are not included) to sustain continuous operation during solar or mobile duty. For internal electrical safety and system isolation during field maintenance, the enclosure is equipped with an integrated miniature circuit breaker (MCB).
Data Connectivity and Commissioning
Hardware commissioning and operational setup are performed through onboard communication interfaces. The sign provides a Mini B-type USB port and an RJ45 LAN network connection, alongside optional GSM connectivity for remote telemetry. Using the Indus Web App, field engineers configure operating parameters including minimum speed thresholds, designated speed limits, and maximum cutoff thresholds, as well as customize 1- or 2-line text and graphical alerts on the secondary tricolor display via drag-and-draw controls.
For cloud-managed infrastructure, the unit synchronizes with the Indus Cloud App, which supports time-stamped vehicle flow and speed event logging for up to 1 million vehicles. An auxiliary interface is also available to trigger an optional external siren for over-speed alerting in high-compliance industrial or school zones.
