Ador Indus VASS Electrical, Mechanical, and Software Compatibility

Electrical and Power Source Compatibility

The Ador Indus Vehicle Activated Speed Sign (VASS) (SKU: KTI04015002SINDSS) provides flexible power architecture designed to integrate into permanent roadside infrastructure, temporary construction areas, and off-grid traffic management zones. The system supports three primary electrical input configurations: utility mains AC supply, autonomous solar generation, and direct DC auxiliary power.

For permanent urban installations, the sign connects directly to 230V AC city lighting or distribution grids. For off-grid remote highway installations, the system interfaces with an external solar panel through its internal solar regulator. The internal chassis features a dedicated internal battery enclosure engineered to house up to 2 batteries (they are not included). The electrical system is specifically sized to operate with 12V/18AH batteries (they are not included) to sustain continuous operation during low-light periods. Operational power efficiency is maintained with an average power consumption of less than 150W. Internal circuit protection is handled by a built-in miniature circuit breaker (MCB) for standard electrical safety and isolation.

Mechanical and Structural Mounting Compatibility

The Ador Indus VASS features a through-dyed grey, anti-UV, one-piece injection-moulded ABS resin housing with an IP65 ingress protection rating. It measures 29 inches high by 29 inches wide by 10 inches deep and weighs 26 kg without batteries (they are not included). The physical enclosure is supplied with pole mounting brackets engineered for structural stability in outdoor environments.

  • Pole Mounting: Mounts directly to round or square structural posts using the included bracket assembly (the mounting pole and pole fixing work are within the client's scope of work).
  • Gantry Installations: Structurally adaptable for rigid fastening on overhead roadway gantries for multi-lane visibility.
  • Mobile Platforms: Compatible with standardized mobile traffic speed trailers and push/tow dollies for dynamic work zone speed enforcement.

Data Communication and Peripheral Integration

The internal radar and control processing board provide standard industrial communication ports to interface with diagnostics equipment, telemetry modems, and auxiliary site hardware:

  • Mini B-Type USB Port: Facilitates direct local field connection via laptop for firmware servicing, manual threshold programming, and offline log extraction.
  • LAN (Ethernet) Interface: Enables direct connection to local site controllers, road networking switches, or SCADA terminals.
  • GSM Cellular Modem (Optional): Integrates optional GSM connectivity for remote telemetry, enabling wireless configuration and over-the-air data polling.
  • Audible Siren Alert Integration: Incorporates external interface terminals to trigger an optional auxiliary external siren when detected vehicle speeds cross critical over-speed thresholds.

Software Platform, Detection, and Network Storage Compatibility

The sign functions with an onboard 24GHz ISM Band / K-Band dual-direction Doppler radar operating at speeds from 5 to 199 km/h with 99% accuracy (±2 km/h) up to a 250-meter range. At the software level, the sign integrates directly with the Indus Web App and Indus Cloud App platforms:

  • Indus Web App: Enables parameter assignment including Minimum, Speed Limit, and Maximum speed threshold triggers, configuration of the 1.37-inch 'YOUR SPEED' message legend, custom drag-and-draw 1- or 2-line secondary LED text/graphics displays, and real-time generation of traffic data graphs.
  • Indus Cloud App: Provides bi-directional network synchronization for centralized fleet management, automated speed telemetry logging, and long-term vehicle profiling with storage capacity for up to 1 million vehicles.
