Essential Road Safety Products Every Indian Facility Manager Should Stock

    24/10/2026
Most accidents inside a campus happen on an ordinary day. A truck reverses into a pillar, a bike takes a blind corner too fast, a worker walks into a wet floor nobody marked, or a car rolls into the wall at the end of a basement bay. Facility managers can prevent most of these with a few simple products, if they are in the store when they are needed. This guide covers the KT India range of road safety products for factories, warehouses, hospitals, offices, schools and housing societies: what to keep in stock, where to use it, how to set it up, and what each kind of site needs.

The essential stock list How to make your site safer, step by step
    1. Walk the site with a map. Mark every gate, blind corner, ramp, crossing, loading bay, parking area and pillar that has been hit. Speak to the drivers and guards; they know the near-misses.
    2. Separate people and vehicles first. Mark walkways with bollards or spring posts, and use New Jersey barriers where heavy vehicles run close to people.
    3. Slow vehicles where it matters. Fit speed breakers 10 to 15 m before gates, crossings and canteen entries, with studs or paint so they are visible at night.
    4. Fix the blind spots. Mount a 60 or 80 cm convex mirror at every blind corner and ramp exit, at a height drivers can see from the seat.
    5. Make it visible at night. Add solar studs, solar delineators and blinkers where lighting is poor. Solar products need no wiring.
    6. Protect what gets hit. Fit corner and wall guards on pillars and ramps, and wheel stoppers in every bay that ends at a wall.
    7. Stock the store. Keep cones, tape, an expandable barrier and spare flashers ready, and train the team to use them the moment there is a spill or repair.

    Kit by site type
    • Factories and warehouses: speed breakers at gates and crossings, convex mirrors at aisle and road junctions, New Jersey or water filled barriers for walkway separation, corner guards on pillars, dock bumpers and wheel chocks at loading bays, and a store of cones and caution tape.
    • Hospitals: low speed breakers with arrows at the ambulance and visitor entries, convex mirrors at the basement ramp, wheel stoppers in parking bays, and retractable cone toppers for drop-off queues.
    • Offices, malls and IT parks: wheel stoppers, corner guards and quarter dome mirrors in the basement, parking posts for reserved bays, and spring bollards on drop-off lanes.
    • Schools and colleges: speed breakers and rumbler strips before the gate, 1000 mm cones and plastic expandable barriers for drop-off and pickup lanes, and a traffic baton for the gate guard.
    • Housing societies: speed breakers at the gate and internal roads, convex mirrors at blind turns, reflective tape on gate poles and solar studs along the driveway.
    • Construction sites and road works: water filled barriers, 750 and 1000 mm cones with solar flashers, delineators and caution tape.

In parking areas, small fixes like stoppers, guards and mirrors stop the most common knocks.
    Keep it working
Walk the site once a month. Replace faded cones and reflective tape, tighten loose speed breaker bolts, clean mirrors and the panels of solar products, and refill or reposition barriers that have moved. Keep a minimum stock in the store: 10 to 20 cones, two expandable barriers, a few rolls of caution tape and some spare flashers. Review the site layout whenever routes, gates or parking change.
    Frequently asked questions
Which cone size should I buy?
300 mm cones suit indoor floors and short-term marking. Use 750 mm cones for roads and yards, and 1000 mm cones for highways, large sites and where they must be seen from far away.
    Rubber or concrete speed breakers?
Bolt-down rubber speed breakers are quick to install, bright, reflective and easy to move later. They suit factories, campuses and parking areas.
    Where should convex mirrors go?
At every blind corner, gate exit, ramp and aisle junction where a driver or forklift cannot see oncoming traffic. Use 80 cm mirrors for wider roads and longer distances.
Do solar blinkers and studs work in the monsoon?
Yes. They charge in daylight, even on cloudy days, and the stored power runs them through the night.
