Mechanical and Conveyor System Maintenance

Daily inspection should ensure that the conveyor belt surface and bidirectional input/output roller conveyor extensions remain free of dust, debris, and abrasive particles. Verify that loads placed on the belt do not exceed the rated maximum capacity of 180 kg to 200 kg evenly distributed.

Inspect belt tracking and tension weekly to prevent lateral drifting across the 680 mm conveyor bed. Clean the tunnel entrance, exit zones, and roller surfaces using dry, lint-free microfibre cloths. Ensure that heavy luggage items do not drag against tunnel sidewalls or compromise internal mechanical alignment.

X-Ray Generator and Cooling System Care

The system is powered by a high-voltage X-ray generator operating at a rated anode voltage of 160 kV and a tube current of 0.8 mA with a vertically upward beam orientation. The generator features a sealed oil bath cooling mechanism engineered for a 100% duty cycle. Maintenance personnel must ensure that ventilation grills and surrounding chassis panels remain unobstructed to maintain passive and convection airflow.

Inspect the generator mounting enclosure periodically for structural integrity and secure grounding. Ensure the single inspection dosage rate remains within the certified threshold of ≤1.0 µGy. Regular quality control checks using standard test pieces should confirm imaging metrics, verifying that wire resolution meets 38 AWG and steel penetration achieves the specified 35 mm to 38 mm baseline.

Optical Sensors, Diagnostics, and Software Verification

Screening accuracy relies on continuous dual-energy detector calibration and optical baggage detection sensors. Utilize the onboard diagnostic software tools to test detector response, baggage counter accuracy, and date/time tracking indicators. Conduct routine checks using Threat Image Projection (TIP) software to maintain operator vigilance and verify system performance.

Clean the optical presence sensors located near the tunnel entry and exit points to ensure responsive beam triggering when packages enter the screening chamber. Validate image enhancement tools—including Perfect View (PV), Pseudo Colors (PS), Black/White (B/W), Inverse View (IN), High Penetration (HP), and real-time 64x zoom—to confirm that dual-energy 3-color material discrimination operates reliably.

Workstation Hardware, Storage, and Operating Conditions

The console workstation integrates an Intel Braswell SoC N3160 quad-core processor (2.24 GHz), onboard RAM, a 1 TB hard drive, and a 21-inch color LED monitor. Routine maintenance tasks include:

  • Image Storage Management: Monitor storage capacity to ensure archive space for up to 200,000 scanned inspection images without data fragmentation.
  • Biometric Sensor Cleaning: Wipe the optical fingerprint verification login module with a dry optical cloth to prevent login read errors.
  • Electrical Supply Verification: Ensure a stable 230 VAC ± 10% (50/60 Hz) earthed power feed (maximum consumption 1.0 kVA / 700 W typical).
  • Environmental Controls: Maintain operating ambient temperatures between -10°C and +45°C with non-condensing relative humidity between 5% and 95%.
