Installation, Site Planning, and Environmental Integration for ZKTeco ZKX6040

Proper deployment of the ZKTeco ZKX6040 Dual-Energy X-ray Baggage Inspection System requires careful site preparation, adequate floor load planning, and strict adherence to electrical and environmental parameters to maintain continuous operation across high-throughput screening checkpoints.

Facility Preparation and Spatial Footprint

The ZKTeco ZKX6040 chassis measures 1701 mm in length, 910 mm in width, and 1305 mm in height, featuring a net equipment weight of 380 kg. Installation teams must verify pathway clearances from unloading bays to the designated screening checkpoint, accommodating packaged shipping dimensions of 1990 mm (L) × 990 mm (W) × 1485 mm (H) with a gross handling weight of 480 kg.

The system is engineered with an inspection tunnel opening of 600 mm (W) × 400 mm (H) and an integrated conveyor belt positioned at an ergonomic height of 680 mm from the finished floor level. When allocating floor space, facility planners must account for both input and output bidirectional roller conveyor extensions to facilitate smooth parcel staging and baggage collection without restricting pedestrian pathways.

Electrical Power Infrastructure

The scanner requires a dedicated single-phase AC power feed to ensure stable operation of the 160 kV rated X-ray generator, sealed oil cooling assembly, and Braswell quad-core imaging computer. The site must supply 230 VAC (±10%) at 50/60 Hz (standard EU/India line supply) with an operational power demand capped at a maximum of 1.0 kVA (700 W typical power consumption). An independent, properly earthed electrical circuit is necessary to protect sensitive detection arrays from electrical transients. For uninterrupted security screening in environments prone to voltage fluctuations, integration with an optional external Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) is supported.

Environmental and Acoustic Parameters

To preserve detection accuracy, sealed generator life, and computer component reliability, the ZKTeco ZKX6040 must be installed in an environment compliant with the following physical parameters:

  • Operating Temperature Range: -10°C to +45°C
  • Operating Humidity Threshold: 5% to 95% relative humidity (non-condensing)
  • Storage Temperature Range: -20°C to +60°C
  • Operational Acoustic Noise: 54 dB sound pressure level, suitable for indoor lobbies and quiet checkpoint areas

Operator Console and Peripherals Setup

The scanner incorporates a space-saving foldable keyboard console and connects directly to an included 21-inch color LED monitor. When positioning the workstation, ensure clear line-of-sight for the operator. The console includes integrated biometric fingerprint verification hardware for secure access control. Installation technicians should securely route all video, USB, and diagnostic interface lines, leaving ample ventilation space around the chassis cooling louvers to support the 100% duty cycle sealed oil generator system.
