Installation and Commissioning Guide for ZKTeco SBTL300

Proper mechanical mounting, electrical routing, and sensor alignment are essential for the reliable deployment of the ZKTeco SBTL300 Single Lane Swing Barrier Turnstile. Engineered for medium-security pedestrian access management, the SBTL300 requires structured site preparation to match its spatial dimensions, power supply parameters, and integrated sensor topology.

Site Planning and Environmental Requirements

The SBTL300 turnstile cabinet measures 1200 mm in length, 200 mm in width, and 980 mm in height, establishing a standard pedestrian lane width of 750 mm. The unit is designed for indoor deployment or covered outdoor installations where an external canopy or shelter protects the SUS304 stainless steel casework and acrylic top lid from direct precipitation. Operating environment specifications must remain within an ambient temperature range of -20°C to 70°C and a non-condensing relative humidity between 5% and 95%.

Before positioning the turnstile, ensure the mounting surface is a level, reinforced concrete foundation. Conduits for AC mains power, inter-cabinet communication lines, and third-party access control cables must be stubbed up within the base footprint of the cabinet to maintain clean cable management and prevent obstruction of internal moving parts.

Power Infrastructure and Electrical Wiring

The system operates on an input power supply of AC 110V / 220V at 50/60 Hz. All electrical supply connections must be securely terminated at the internal power supply module. During installation and routine maintenance, always isolate and switch off the primary power feed before servicing internal terminals.

  • Power Requirements: AC 110V / 220V, 50/60 Hz dedicated line.
  • Fail-Safe Power Mode: In the event of a power outage, the turnstile automatically unlocks the swing barriers, enabling pedestrians to push through the acrylic barrier wings safely for emergency egress.
  • Emergency Override: The main control board supports an emergency mode interface to drive barriers into an open state upon trigger signal activation.

Sensor Alignment and Master-Slave Communication

The turnstile incorporates 4 pairs of infrared sensors positioned along the pedestrian corridor. During physical cabinet anchoring, verify that opposing infrared emitter and receiver pairs are precisely aligned across the 750 mm lane to ensure accurate pedestrian tracking, anti-tailgating detection, and anti-pinch safety. Misalignment of these optical sensors can lead to false obstruction alarms or premature barrier closure.

For dual-cabinet single-lane setups, connect the designated communication lines between the master and slave units. Verify device configuration settings on the master controller to ensure simultaneous brushless motor actuation on both sides. Proper connection of the upper roof lamp and direction indicator wiring ensures that entry/exit LED status displays correspond accurately with credential authorization signals.

Access Control Integration and Initial Commissioning

The SBTL300 features factory-engineered plug-and-play architecture for ZKTeco RFID card and biometric fingerprint access control readers. Readers integrated into the acrylic/SUS304 top lid connect directly to the onboard controller. During commissioning, observe the integrated LCD display screen, which provides real-time running status diagnostics and configuration parameters.

Check the internal mechanical core assembly—consisting of the brushless motor, drive frame, lock mechanism, and transmission belt—to confirm correct belt tension and smooth barrier movement. Test credential transactions to confirm the 0.8-second barrier opening speed, low operating acoustic profile (≤30 dB), and smooth closing cycles across the rated 30 people per minute throughput capacity.
