Installation and Commissioning Guidelines for ZKTeco Mars-S100 Swing Barrier Turnstile

Site Preparation and Foundation Requirements

The ZKTeco Mars-S100 swing barrier turnstile is engineered exclusively for indoor deployment within dry, non-corrosive environments across an operating temperature range of -20°C to 70°C and relative humidity levels between 0% and 85% (non-condensing). Proper foundation preparation is critical for maintaining mechanical alignment and seamless barrier operation.

Install the turnstile chassis on a completely flat, horizontal, and solid concrete platform. A raised concrete plinth with a recommended height of 50 mm to 100 mm is advised to protect internal cabling from moisture exposure. Maintain a mandatory clearance of at least 100 mm between the turnstile chassis and any adjacent wall or architectural barrier to permit unimpeded opening of the key-locked top lid during maintenance and internal component adjustment.

Conduit Trenching and Cable Segregation

Site preparation requires subterranean conduit routing prior to bolting down the pedestrian lane. Cut a conduit trench measuring 23 mm wide by 60 mm deep into the concrete floor to accommodate Φ20 mm PVC conduit pipes. Feed all wiring upward into the turnstile cabinet via the designated φ14 mm chassis cable entry holes.

  • Power Lines: Route mains electrical power through dedicated conduit. The turnstile accepts 110V / 220V AC (50–60 Hz) input converted internally to DC 24V (22VA standby, 50VA active power consumption).
  • Signal and Communication Lines: Route Ethernet data cables, RS485 communication lines, and inter-cabinet tether cables through separate conduits. Strong mains electrical power and weak signal wiring must strictly be segregated and laid separately to eliminate electromagnetic interference.
  • Emergency Signal Line: Run dedicated wiring for the voltage-free dry contact fire alarm relay input, which automatically drives the barrier into a fail-open emergency escape state upon signal activation.

Mechanical Anchoring and Positioning

The turnstile ships pre-assembled in standard wooden crates with swing arms factory-fitted. Each chassis features external dimensions of 600 mm (L) × 120 mm (W) × 1040 mm (H) with a net weight of 25 kg (±5 kg) across 2 boxes. Standard lane configuration delivers a 660 mm clear walkway for single pedestrian throughput, while wide configurations deliver a 900 mm clearance for luggage and trolley access.

Position the turnstile chassis over the cable entry conduits and align the mounting points. Mark and drill four holes into the concrete subfloor. Secure the cabinet using four M12 expansion bolts, washers, and nuts, tightening them firmly with a wrench to ensure zero vibration during the rapid 0.8-second swing cycle of the DC brushless motor.

Electrical Bonding, Controller Setup, and Commissioning

Unlock and open the chassis cover using the supplied access key. Securely connect the protective earth ground wire directly to the internal chassis earthing terminal points to prevent shock hazards and transient static interference.

  • Access Controller Integration: Terminate control wiring to onboard terminals or integrated controllers such as the ZKTeco C3-200 or Bio260 Pro. Connect credential peripherals including under-mount RFID readers (KR/FID series), under-mount fingerprint readers (FR1200 / FR1500), or surface-mount biometric terminals (ProFace X, G4 Pro, Omni AC30).
  • Sensor Alignment: Verify the optical path and alignment for the 4 pairs of high- and low-position infrared (IR) anti-clamping and passage detection sensors.
  • Pre-Operation Inspection: Inspect all mechanical clutch connections, circuit connectors, wire harnesses, and mounting hardware for complete torque retention before closing and locking the SPCC cold-rolled steel lid.
