System Compatibility and Controller Interfacing for ZKTeco KR500 E

The ZKTeco KR500 E is an external slave RFID reader engineered for direct integration into access control architectures, time and attendance hardware, and security monitoring infrastructure. Operating on standard communication protocols and electrical specifications, the device functions as an edge credential-reading terminal for centralized or standalone master controllers.

Access Control Panel and Host Controller Integration

The KR500 E outputs credential identification data using an industry-standard 26-bit Wiegand interface (KRxxx-E default format). This allows seamless wiring and data communication with a broad spectrum of master hardware, including:

  • Centralized multi-door access control panels supporting 26-bit Wiegand reader input ports.
  • Standalone single-door access controllers requiring external entry or exit slave readers.
  • Time and attendance terminals equipped with slave Wiegand reader interface channels.
  • Third-party security and automation management panels designed for 26-bit Wiegand protocol ingestion.

Credential and RFID Frequency Compatibility

The KR500 E incorporates an internal radio frequency module configured for 125KHz proximity technology. It interacts with standard 125KHz EM / Proximity transponders, passive RFID cards, badges, and key fobs. The reading architecture provides a credential detection range of up to 10 cm with a swift transaction response time of ≤200 ms, ensuring reliable transit throughput across busy entry points.

Auxiliary Control Inputs and Host Signalling

To enable coordinated visual and audible status reporting from the master controller back to the user, the reader includes two external control input ports:

  • External LED Control Port: Allows the central controller to trigger the unit’s dual-color Red and Green LEDs, indicating access granted, access denied, or system alarm conditions.
  • External Buzzer Control Port: Enables the access controller to trigger the internal audible beeper for operational feedback, door-held-open alerts, or tamper events.

Power Infrastructure and Electrical Parameters

The KR500 E operates across a wide direct current voltage range of DC 6V to 14V with a maximum operational current draw of 70 mA. This electrical flexibility permits direct auxiliary DC power supply from the host access control board, an adjacent power supply controller, or a centralized DC bus without the need for dedicated high-current step-down equipment.
